I know everyone thinks Chili's sucks but I don't care tbh I think it's decent for the price and in my experience their alcohol wasn't too pricey and their mixed drinks were pretty tall and strong. The honey chipotle chicken crispers are delicious imo

Not being mean, but is there any less thoughtful gift than a Chili's gift card ? I mean, I am sure someone was being nice and that should be what matters, but damn..
I understand. Actually it was gift to a friend and he needed some money so he sold it to me. I didn't really want the card, but he was in a bind.

Yea a giftcard would be the only way I'd eat there. Haven't been in a few years but the last couple of times before that, the food was terrible.

So you'll eat something terrible if it's free? I have a suggestion for you but it might require some manual labor first.

Chili's is overpriced, but it ain't nasty like Applebees. Their burgers are pretty good.

I got the ribeye and a margarita on the rocks.
A word to the wise, don't get the ribeye at Chilis, but the margarita was great.
Ugh. You're depressing as today. Your wife is at the hospital, you're posting on SpursTalk all day, then you go to Chili's for a steak and Margarita. Then back to SpursTalk.

What. No. If something involves waiting in a line you just send someone to do it for you.

Well I would try something, like to give them a chance. Maybe the food got tons better since the last time I was there. And those places usually have some pretty decadent desserts. Whew, 2 Long Island Iced Teas and one of those double whammy chocolate molten lava bomb cakes----I'd pass out for like 12 hours---great gift! Manual labor? No thank you!

I once got a $25 gift card to CompUSA. WTF was I supposed to get there for $25?

Some blank burnable CDs, a computer mouse -- I don't know, you could have got something.

I have never been to an Applebees. I never saw options and thought to myself, I'll actively choose that place . Same with Black Eyed Pea and several other places like that. I can't say I haven't TGIF'd or Chilis'd a few times, but unless I lose the White Elephant Gift Exchange, I try not to go...

That was nice of you. He probably thought you would buy the gift card and then take him to dinner with it

that's what I ended up with. Overpriced CDs that I had to drive out of my way to get.

, I'm not even sure the place is still around

Not regarding the OP, but if you are going to give a thoughtless gift, just do cash. People like it, they can use if for whatever they want & even though it's thoughtless at least they aren't pigeon-holed into getting something they don't like anyways.
