The potential is there for cornerstone. But not yet. If he can put up 24 a night when this is his team well get the answer

Your best wing defender can't be your cornerstone. Only a freak like Lebron can pull that off

He probably has to get a random season-ending injury in a few years that allows the Spurs to psuedo-tank their way to another high draft pick. That's the only way I see the Spurs getting a le after the Big Three are all gone.

    So a 3rd miracle pick?

i could see the FO using their corporate knowledge weight to swoon a solid FA pickup.

ditto. last night once again validated the MO of this organization. Hopefully, Pop and Tim will stick around long enough to get the next generation started. But the front office has been nothing short of spectacular in the players they've added. Splitter, Leonard, Green, Mills, Diaw. Need some more pieces but I don't think they need a lottery pick to make it work. With the Big Three and Pop coming back at least one more year, it would be a great place for a premier free agent to come to try to get a ring.

Pop's system, team-ball, is incredible and I hope it changes the NBA for the better...I have a feeling that teams and players are going to have to adapt to this type of play to be successful in the playoffs from this point forward...when you can change the game like that...that makes you a pinnacle of the sport....Pop is already among elite company just in team stats...all that said, if there is one problem with the system it's that Pop hasn't groomed anyone to do everything he does for the Spurs...Gino would be a better replacement to coach the Spurs than any of Pop's current assistants....Yeah, Chip is a great shooting coach, but is he ready to coach an NBA team....that brings me to this point....Pop has made himself invaluable to the Spurs success...a linchpin....without Pop, there is no team-ball...all this talk about Kawhi developing to be a corner-stone or Tim retiring aren't going to mean squat when Pop decides to walk away...

You are probably right about this.
Although that may be a reason for them bringing in Messina from Europe.
