Major blow to Snyder.
http://deadspin.com/appeal-board-rul...ark-1592527430The Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office ruled today in Blackhorse v. Pro-Football Inc., a suit brought by a group of Native Americans seeking to have the Washington Redskins' trademarks canceled on the grounds that the name is disparaging. The plaintiffs achieved a major victory: the board ruled against the team.
Good. Just get this over with, I'm tired of hearing about it.
What an embarrassment. While the World Cup illustrates cultural differences & pride, the made Americans pull this stunt
from another site:
People are missing the long game here...
This allows anybody...to do anything...with the redskin name...
Someone could drop a gay porno movie with actors wearing redskins helmets and jerseys...sell that shyt...and now the washington redskins brand is associated with gay porno...
Look how they worded it..."it is offensive to native americans"
For this to get overturned is to say..."we don't care about offending native americans"
Nah in this politically correct world...
Can we bet coli cash that the media starts asking all the players about this during the season? I'd like to push all my chips to the middle of the table
I hope North Korea releases that film
jeebus, imo
Their logos might be next, but not the names.
What about every HS team in the US, period? If they force the Redskins to change their name, they're going to have to force A LOT of schools to change too. It's going to be pretty hard, tbh.
Redskins should introduce the team at home games this season with Iron Maiden's "Run to the Hills" blasting over the stadium.
Not sure about Cleveland but the actual Seminole tribe has endorsed FSU already and has stood behind their name as not being offensive for some time.
Seminoles can't be deemed as offensive, it was a legitimate name of a tribe in the Florida region. While not as mainstream of a term, "Redskins" is akin to using the N word on a team. Not to mention the original owner of the team has basically come out to say in old interviews in newspapers that he named it that without respect towards the Native Americans.
And while the name Indians isn't offensive, the logo certainly was and it has been phased out of the Indians as they are using the C logo/cap now as their primary logo.
Who ing cares? They're gambling alcoholics whose population is dwindling anyway. At least there story will live on on a football helmet
I would have changed the name long ago, all it would have took is...a lot of Indians are offended, the very next day....The Washington Kardex (it worked for Tonawanda in 1921) Hmmmm?
Then again....

Good point. Change the sports team names and further erase the Indians out of American culture
Or just change the ones that are racial slurs and keep the rest.
Or they could just force teams using racial slurs to change and let the rest do what they want. This isn't that difficult.
Not sure why people are butthurt over this but I guess I'm not Indian. It's gonna happen eventually, it's inevitable but yeah I'm tired of hearing about this . Apparently they fought the trademark thing before in 92 and won so we will see what happens this time
