    The return of Jeremy Lin?
The Warriors, per a league source, have informed the Houston they would consider acquiring Lin from the Rockets via trade. Houston is reportedly shopping Lin in case they need to create cap space for Carmelo Anthony or LeBron James.

The Warriors have a $9.8 million trade exception leftover from the trade that sent Andris Biedrins and Richard Jefferson’s expiring contract to Utah. Though Lin is scheduled to make $14.9 million, only $8.37 will count against the salary cap. That means the Warriors can absorb Lin’s contract without giving up any players.

Nothing is imminent, the source said. It’s one of many options the Warriors are weighing.

It should be noted, the players the Warriors would prefer more is Chandler Parsons. But with no back-up guards under contract outside of Nemanja Nedovic, the Warriors could really use Lin.
They not only need a back-up for Stephen Curry, they need someone who can get to the basket. Lin’s strength is penetrating and finishing.

If Curry and Lin can find a way to play with each other, it could make for a very interesting backcourt. They would probably trade Klay Thompson and potentially bring in Kevin Love at Power Forward. Given that that the Warrior's will be more of pick and roll team because they are bringing in Steve Kerr as head coach, he could actually thrive there. The Warrior's will probably try to emulate the Spurs and Kerr has said, he would put in some Triangle principles too. It's a good fit for Lin and puts him back in his home town.

No need to trade Thompson if Lin is acquired. Thompson/Love provide an equal impact.

This is true and if the Rockets are looking to clear cap, the Warriors can just sell them a draft pick. Lin at worst on the Warriors ends up with a Manu Ginobilli role.

......Then it's a dismal failure. They don't need that "role." He must go in there and relieve (Curry) & Thompson of ball handling duties, hence the pressure.

It's an understandable proposal for Warriors though. It'd be a huge boost to their ticket revenue since yellows are already the majority in the SF-Berkeley metropolis, epitomized by the racial components you see at UC Berkley.
