America missed some point blank chances. Great game.
Well, Belgium won, as they were expected to do, but it was a lot closer than they would have liked. They should be very concerned moving forward. A better team would have waxed them today.
BTW, Howard just set a WC record with 16 saves. If we could actually not turn the ball over constantly, we'd be pretty tough to beat. Losing Altidore early on was huge, though. He would've been the difference today.

I for one am not proud of how the USA played. When you make your goalkeeper make the most saves in a half century, something is clearly wrong. Yes, the team showed some heart at the end, but where was all that energy before?
I don't think my heart could take another 3 to 6 games like that one.

Belgium does not impress me too. They play well for 85% of the field and then when it's time to kick it, they keep trying stupid and fancy moves. Dumbasses. And 2 of their forwards are complete assholes when it comes to scoring.

Yeah, might even agree with Klinsman about him beeing a top5 goalie in the world (hard to tell, but other than Neuer I don't really know who else is up there). It's just not like all you need as defense is him (even though it seemed like that today).

The US needs to get bigger in the midfield. They lost almost every single header in that area and it lead to breaks with lots of space for Belgium.
Wondolowski had the game in the bag for the Americans, and he choked badly.
