This national team really doesn't need him, they will most likely be out in the first round.
Manu is going to play, it's the end of the road for the Argentinian legend. He wants one last time to play for his country I'm sure he's willing to take the risk.

I was just watching the news on tv, and they said Manu got a 2nd opinion, and it was an opinion Manu wanted to hear, so Manu not playing for argentina isn't set in stone yet
Does Tonya Harding do contract work?
Damn right it is a blessing. The guy was too stupid (a.k.a. patriotic) to know that at his age and with his body he should have taken off the summer. He would have been next year if he'd played. Hasn't past history proven that? Thank heavens.
But not mad at the assholes asking him to play on a broken leg? Genius.
Most likely
In other news, our best big/center, Juan Gutiérrez, will miss the tournament with an injury...We are toasted and Manu is planning to play injured...Wow.
I suppored Manu for playing for Argentina but playing injured is ing stupid.
Well, the 'neutral' medical opinion said that the fracture could get better but wouldn't get worse. I can't exactly figure how they came up with that conclusion, but it would certainly be a basis for an argument that says 'he can play on it for Argentina and it won't make it any worse than it already is'.
Rest assured that I would prefer that he not play on it, but I don't think Manu sees it that way.
Why would he be any more mad at people telling him he that they want him to play for their own reasons than he would be at people telling him that they don't want him to play for their own reasons.
Why are people in here imagining that Manu is going to do something that he doesn't want to do? Has he ever struck anyone as being less than confident in his own judgment about anything at all?
Manu will do what Manu wants to do. Anyone who tries to get in his way of that is likely to b the ones he considers a$$holes.
So has this press conference happened, and is he playing FIBA? Anyone down in Mexico heard anything?
Pretty dumb if he chooses to still play.
Just let him sacrifice the ceremonial goat at halfcourt or whatever it is that they do down there tbh.
Of course he'll play another season at least beyond next one, save for a bad injury. Same with Duncan.
Manu said in the press conference that he hopes to play, and the injury it`s just a "little fracture". He will probably wait 20-25 days to announce his final decision, but he is optimistic. Let the fire begin!
He wants to play. Man, if folks were fired up before.![]()
That is reasonable.
The thing that worries about this stress fracture is that back in 2009, they thought it would heal up as well and that it's not so serious and like a week after, announced that he would be out for the rest of the season and will require surgery. Anyway, I hope he won't end up regretting whatever decision he makes.
The surgery was before the 2008-09 season. He did not have surgery after the stress reaction late that season. Just rest and he was ready to go for 2009-10.
Manu's plane had an emergency landing.
Just read his American Airlines flight had a broken wheel (not kidding)... the irony...
I'll translate some quotes from the presser in a bit...
