He wants to be run into the ground and play 45 games next year apparently
If Gasol wants to join the Spurs, fine. If he doesn't, who cares. Spurs have done real well without him.

Um...I was responding to you saying this:
...which is absolutely ridiculous
How do the Lakers have any say if they aren't doing a S&T?
According to Marc Stein the Lakers want Gasol in the east if they can't re-sign him. Lakers definitely salty.
Obviously a S&T is possible, but none of the things that have to happen in order for that to happen have been reported yet.
Well good luck playing with a broken Derrick Rose and losing in the first round.
Lol, as if they are a contender or Gasol would stand in their way.
How bad, though? What ty contracts are the Bulls trying to offload on them?
Further, if you're in the Chicago front office, why are you going to give up draft picks and/or decent talent for someone who is not so quietly entertaining signing for the MLE?
Possible but highly unlikely. Seems like Lakers are delaying the inevitable. Mitch probably ask Gasol to hold off on decision until they exhausted all possible means. Pau is the kind of a guy to do that. Lakers just stalling at this point.
Lakers want the kings pick and Butler. Not happening unless the Bulls have gone full re .
I think you have a short memory. The Spurs have never been in a position to land a $$ FA. These guys were coveted by other teams besides the Spurs and decided to come here. 2 of them that didn't suck out loud won rings. , Robert Horry is a forgotten FA that got a couple of rings here too.
Only time they have have cap space that large is when they try to sign Kidd and almost did if not for his of an ex wife.
Drawing it out to see if there is another bidder.
It's not even that. There are a few things they could give (pick + lower end players possibly). The point is LA can't do a S&T with what has currently been reported. They would have to formally announce they are stretching Nash for any of this to be possible (unless the renege on other moves already reported).
Totally agree with you. S&T needs a third team take Nash's contract. Otherwise, Pau signs MLE with Spurs over Bulls
Well if the "reports" are true that Pau will choose SA unless there is a S&T with CHI, it stands to reason why CHI would be willing to give things up.
It also jives with what is going on and CHI/LA scrambling to get a S&T done. If Pau was willing to play for the MLE, it's very likely CHI would just sign him and cut out LA. Although, CHI is really, really cheap and they may not be willing to spend the MLE because they aren't sending salary out.
Lol giving up butler would be the most ridiculous thing they have done in years.
If the MLE is what's on the table between the Bulls and SA, a factor to consider would be Texas' lack of a state income tax. I would imagine Pau and his agent would weigh that in as well, considering how much of a savings that would be by avoiding a tax in Illinois. I believe Illinois has a flat income tax rate of 5%. Just a thought.
Is there any sort of time limitation with this S&T once the process begins?
What does their cap look like? If they renounced Gasol's rights that freed up at least $20mil.
Not so willing, they are turned down a couple of offers from last nights reports. Lakers don't want to get fleeced. Bulls don't want to get fleeced. Lets fleece a 3rd party. No team is going to trade for Boozer when they know they can get him for next to nothing if the Bulls amnesty him and take on Nash's contract as well. This s&t is dead IMO.
No, they might have a verbal from gasoline saying I'll play there if you make it work but there is nothing binding the deal
If Pau is settled on CHI then I'm pretty sure the collective group will make it happen somehow.
They took on Lin, signed Hill and Young which ate there cap
