Guaranteed starting job, at or more money, DRose, and playing in the weak ass East. It's not an unreasonable choice.
added to that Chicago is an awesome city, few US cities are better.
That door closed hours ago. Bulls are still trying to trade Boozer. Not happening IMO. Will be amnesty, Gasol is waiting like a for this to happen.

If he gets more money the than the MLE, then that's OK, but if it's only for the MLE, still a dumb choice IMO. There's no reason why he couldn't start for OKC if he was after a starting gig.
What makes Chicago a great city? I'm obviously not from the US, so I don't know much about Chicago as a city itself. Lately (the last few years), all I hear about Chicago is gangs and shootings.
He chose Chicago for whatever reasons.
Time to move along.
Next.
Chicago isn't the dangerous city it's claimed to be, in fact violent crimes have declined in the last two decades, even the last few years. It's a right wing effort to make them look bad, primarily because they've tried to enact gun control measures. That's a big no no in some quarters here and deserves lies to be told in retaliation. Certain parts are bad, to be sure, but nowhere as bad as in these fantasies.
I'd consider Davis a much better use of the MLE than Gasol would have been. Obviously, he was overrated as a prospect, but he's still a good player. If Pop can cut some of the fat from the big rotation, Davis would be awesome.
Just checked out his stats and they're pretty good. What are his strengths and weaknesses?
His style of play doesn't match what OKC does on offensive, which is a disgusting brand of basketball predicated on running/slash to the hoop in the hopes of drawing a foul. The deliberate, clever post game which Pau has would be lost in such a system and I think he knew it. bulls play at a place better suited for his talents at this stage in his career. OKC is equally as disgusting a city as is the Thunder offensive schemes, especially for MLE pay.
Chicago has many cool neighborhoods, history, culture, food, excellent sports fan, and Lake Michigan. More approachable than NYC in almost every way possible, with similar attractions. Yes, Like any major city there are issues, and it's freaking cold in the winter. Well worth the visit though if you ever come to the US.
I agree. I think his ceiling is Amir Johnson, and I'd be really happy with that.
He's raw still, and he's been in the league for a while. I thought he looked like a center in a PF's body. He doesn't have much of a shot. I haven't watched him enough to know a lot.
Is that why there were over 70+ shootings last weekend in Chicago with like 6 or 7 people dying...yeah hows that strict gun control working out?

I asked this in another thread, but no one answered : Question - Does anyone know if you can sign players to 1 year on the MLE? Some people suggest that we should keep the MLE and not spend it as it would affect next year's off-season money for free agency. Can someone explain to me what difference it would make to next off-season if they were to pocket the MLE?
Chicago is the murder capital right now and add the city is broke as is can't pay there employees the whole state is pretty much ed they just don't know it yet. They have the worse credit rating right now no one will take city checks or state checks cause they will bounce they heading the same way Detroit just give it five more years.
I watched him a lot in Toronto since I went to games all the time, tbh..
Strengths: athletic, aggressive, explosive at the rim, has stretches of really productive offense
Weaknesses: extremely raw, absolutely awful defensive player, and doesn't understand how to play team offense
Thanks for that explanation. It sounds like a very decent place. I'll definitely put it on my list of places to visit if I ever take a trip.
As for OKC, I'm sure Gasol would have talked to them about their system and if they would be willing to accommodate him and play to his strengths, and I'd say Brooks would have told him they'd try and work their system to fit his game into it (if they didn't, they are complete idiots). I'd say it just came down to the city itself. lol, if you say that the city is as disgusting as their offensive system on the court, then that pretty much says it all. That's put me off right there on the spot. He must have heavily been swayed to Chicago because of the city itself. If he gets more than the MLE from Chicago, I guess it was an easy decision for him to pick them over the Spurs or OKC.
Chinook, I watched most of Davis games when he played for the raptors and he's absolute trash in defense and can't seem to follow a play call.
His strengths are something that the spurs won't use much because they would all require the spurs to run plays for him and give him the ball..
The no defense part really sucks. Thanks for the info fellas. I appreciate it.
If his defense sucks, I have no f'ing interest in him at all.
I still don't think Marion/Aminu would be bad for the MLE. Our bench has plenty of offense between Mills/Manu/Belinelli/Diaw...adding a good defensive/rebounding wing wouldn't hurt IMO, even if they are a little offensively-challenged. Marion was actually respectable last year from deep anyways.
Yes, the MLE can be for just one year. Even if it couldn't, the additional years could be non-guaranteed.
Yep, that's what I wanted in the first place (before this Gasol BS), I just wanted a defensive/rebounding wing player above all else.
I was interested in Pau if he were to have come here for the MLE and also to help entice his brother to come here when he's a free agent. I much prefer Marc's game over Pau's anyway. I think Marc is a tougher player, as Pau still has some softness in his game, which I am not a fan of. Kobe really had to push him to toughen up during their Championship runs. Does anyone think the Spurs would be interested in pursuing Marc Gasol when he is a free agent?

Sweet. So really, there is no reason not to use it then? Also, what is the deal about people saying that we shouldn't use it at all so it doesn't affect cap space next year? What's the story with that? How does it affect what the Spurs can do next season?
Marion would still be a decent get. Hopefully he's gotten over himself enough to take a reduced role.
lol wtf all these free agents thinking
