Not that I'm scoffing Season 1, which is one of the best seasons of a show I have ever seen. It's just that you haven't even gotten into the meat of the series yet.
Yeah, the show gets a lot better than Season 1. Specifically, Seasons 4,2, and 3 are way better IMO. Season 5? Tough call between 1 and 5.

Zig's existence on the show is justified just by that scene with Cheese clowning him right in front of Frog. Now Nick Sobotka was the character I truly hated in Season 2.
Finished season 2. I can see the complaints but don't agree. Season 1 was clearly more character driven while 2 was more story driven with how the drug trade extends much further than the towers. It was weird to see less of McNulty but liked additions of Frank, Nick, and the Farakhan mother er. I absolutely saw Ziggy doing something crazy but didn't think it'll happen at that very moment. I really thought he was gonna get straight murdered. Poor Frank.
Starting season 3 now!
Why'd you hate him?
I thought he started out decent, but the way he quickly just was all about making drug money was annoying.
Ziggy was hilarious. Like when he put his on that guys computer, and him getting that duck drunk.
Season 3 of the Wire in the books and , was that an incredible season. Up there with the last and first season of The Shield. Great new characters in Marlo, Slim Charles, Cudi and Carcetti. The development or devolution of Stringer and Avon relationship was a sight to see. Poor String. Even though he was a **** the whole time you can see he was tired of the gangster life. So many riveting scenes like Bell confronting Avon about D'Angelo, his eventual death, Marlo killing Devine in straight cold blood and him sitting down in the courthouse. Just kept me watching for 5 hours straight (today at least). And Omar remains a must watch whenever he's on screen. Oh yeah, does anyone NOT cheat on their wives in this show. Damn. Anyways. Easily the best season of the series so far and I have no idea where they can go from here.
I was so glad to see String gone after the way he did Dee. Avon too. He was almost as annoying as Ziggy with his constant ing about rep instead of just sitting back and getting paid. Season 4 is probably the best season of any show I have ever seen.
Well, all those characters from Season 3 ain't going anywhere, so you'll probably like Season 4 just as much. Season 4 is the clear-cut best for me.
String being played by Clay Davis was cold. And Perez going out for shooting that cop was a ty end for him. Just shows some people aren't cut out for the force. Hearing the best line so far in the series was great. " , are you taking notes on a criminal ing conspiracy?!". If only Gale Boetticher took that advice..
Love seeing Stringer get pissed. My favorite is the 40 Degree Day speech
Yeah, just don't. I've done my best to keep away from spoilers even though I vaguely remember something about Omar that has yet to happen.
Season 4 of The Wire in the books and yes, that was hands down the best season. Although season 3 isn't that far behind. I really hope a good amount of characters catch a bullet in season 5. Bodie went out like a champ.
Ok. Wrapped up the entire series and I thought season 5 was fantastic. The newsroom angle had me really intrigued. Watching a second empire crumble just like Avon's was great. Omar death was poetic because Omar probably started the game just like that kid did. By killing someone at an extreme small age. It's a shame because I remember watching Omar last scene years ago before I became interested in the show. So when I saw him walk into the store, I knew what was gonna happen.
All in all, the show is tied for top 2 of all time with The Shield and behind Breaking Bad respectively enough.

Not a single bad season though and I've never been that invested in so many characters.
Next up is either Homeland, Sopranos or Games of Thrones. I spoiled Games of Thrones myself by watching some random episodes at a friends house. One being the death of the hand of the King.
This is how Omar started off
On my third viewing of the series. Currently on the 1st season, 3rd episode.
is as real as it gets.
Just rewatched the show with the baby momma. It's even better the more views through. So many things you don't catch the first time, like seeing that dude with the beard that worked in the docks down at the homeless camp, and Kennard just eyeing Omar while all the kids ran.
Saw that the first time through, tbh
regardless, it's a show you can enjoy watching multiple times imo. I have watched it all the way through 6 times, and plan to watch it again in the future if nothing else to make me forget Sobotka was in True Blood.
I may need to re-watch this show as well tbh...
Seen it in its entirety twice, but seen certain episodes more than that and quintessential scenes way more than that.
It def has replayability.
On Amazon streaming if you have prime. Great show.
Seriously Season 5. They couldn't have ed up McNulty more if they tried. I've still got a couple of episodes to go but they seriously went from the best season to the worst.
I came around to liking Season 2 quite a bit by the end. Still think Season 4 is the best but I liked Season 2 a lot.
