Talent unrealized on a team that had too many good players at his position. And, then owner Bill Davidson unyielding in his stance on not going into the luxury tax made the move understandable. Ben Wallace is a free agent this summer. Chauncey Billups will have an option next summer.
On paper, and the players involved in the trade, yes it looks like a bad move. And, I don't like it. But, if you understand the financial implications of the move, it's not that it still isn't a bad move, but it's understandable.
There hasn't been this much anguished gnashing of teeth in Detroit since Chuck Nevitt left.
