Meltdown
At least the Chargers beat the Broncos in Denver, the Chiefs in KC, and the Colts on Monday night
Panthers' best win was handed to them by refs at home against a flawed Pats team, and they got blown out by the Saints
Newton
Hereeeee we go:
What a great year for the SD Chargers. Give it up for these boys.

CatsRivers >>>>>>Cam the Cat
Allen>> entire Panthers WR group.
Last season the Chargers were ranked...
offense...23
defense...22
That's 45
The Panthers were ranked
offense...26
defense...2
That's a 28.
There is little doubt Rivers is a better QB than Newton but the difference between the defenses is dramatic.
The Panthers lost basically their whole secondary whereas the Chargers upgraded their secondary, including adding a Pro Bowl CB in Flowers.... we also had a ton of injuries on defense last year from training camp on....
The offensive ranking is deceiving, because the Chargers' offense was actually very efficient.... last year's Chargers were one of only 36 teams since the schedule expanded to 16 games to have fewer than 80 "bad drives" (drives ending in punts or turnovers) in a season.... they also had the least drives in the NFL, mainly because their offense moved at a glacially slow pace.... additionally, Rivers was nails in the short, horizontal passing game.... bottom line, they had an unorthodox offense that didn't lend itself to statpadding but was extremely efficient....
You can make a strong case that the Panthers have the best or close to the best front sevens in the league. Now add the fact they had 60 sacks and were a plus 11 in the all important TO differental. While the Chargers had 35 sacks and were a minus 4. Those are the stats that really mean something. As we can see a huge advantage Panthers there.
The secondary has been the weak link for awhile now, that is not news.
The key to winning in the NFL is win the TO battle, stuff the run which means third and long and have a great pass rush. There it's all Carolina over San Diego. Remember Russell Wilson is just a game manager, they win because of what?
Your Chargers the classic example of how important a defense is, yep the Fouts years.
