Use your in' head, man. Vecsey didn't want the Lakers in '00. He wanted the Celtics. Well, the Celtics weren't there in those Finals, but, Bird was and he was flying under the radar. Media had enjoined to keep the buzz down in hopes that Daddy would in the end fail and they (Media) could drag his black carcass out into the streets and make an example of him using the white man Bird in the shadow of Celtic green as the example. That did not happen. Daddy got straightened out and Vecsey had to stand there and take it. I remember it. He spoke in low tones, shoulders slightly slumped. He had no idea what was coming. He was better off that nite than across the next two consecutive Junes. He just didn't know it.
