Apparently TCU commit ATH Darrion Flowers is the "mystery recruit" that 24/7 has been talking about since the summer. But given the lack of re-communication on his behalf, it remains unknown if Texas is still interested, per 24/7.

Texas offered TCU commit LB Semaj Thomas during the summer, most expected him to stay because he was a VERY strong TCU commit. But now he wants to visit TCU, Texas and Oklahoma after his senior season, per 24/7.

I talk to their (Texas) linebackers coach (Brian Jean-Mary). He tells me how Texas is a great program. The way they have their linebackers. They tell me I’m a pretty good fit about their program. I like that Charlie Strong is trying to clean up a lot of bad things happening at Texas. He’s trying to rebuild the program. Their linebackers are pretty good. They have a pretty good defense. Education wise it's pretty good.

What's his story? Did he commit elsewhere before re-committing to us?

I think he was a casualty of the regime change iirc.

Strong pulled his offer and he was later re-offered.

Not sure when he left the game exactly.

The commitment from Reggie Hemphill-Mapps, made me go back and look at Collin Johnson. His mid-season highlights are pretty good for a guy coming from an option-offense.

I don't wan to know what that means, but he would be an idiot to watch our game and not think he could be a star on our offense on day one.

Quote from QB Bryce Petty on the Texas defense:

"I'll have to be honest with you, my head is still spinning trying to think about it. They threw so many looks at us, coverage-wise…I couldn't tell you what they did on consecutive plays. It's good for us and I really think defenses are going to do that, they are going to throw things at us that we haven't seen before and we have got to get through it. I've got to get better because I can't have games like that, I don't want games like that. I feel like I'm the best in the country, so if you are going to be the best in the country, you've got to be able to decipher that kind of stuff and still be able to hit things. There was a lot of miscommunication out there, but at the end of the day, the ball is on my hands and I've got to put it out there."

I thought the complete opposite, he must look at our offense and think, "how in the world can I be a star in that horrible offense."

Update on WR John Burt of Tallahassee, FL after his official visit to Auburn (24/7):

"I'm still committed (to Texas) at this point," Burt said.

"Maybe something (could change my commitment), but I'm not sure right now," he said.

"Is it a concern about Texas? A little bit, but it's not unexpected. They have a new coaching staff and you can't expect a team that's going through all of this to perform like they should be. Do I think they will bounce back? Yes. How much time that will take, I'm not sure."

2016 WR Reggie Hemphill of Manvel talks about his commitment to Texas (24/7):

“Texas was just where my heart was at,” Hemphill-Mapps told Horns247 on Sunday.

“When I opened up my recruitment it was basically just me seeing how fast things stuff can change at the college level,” Hemphill-Mapps said. “I was taking my time to like really go about what I wanted and what I need from different schools."

“Recommitting was like: This is the place for me. This is what I need to be doing. This is where I need to go.”

“The fans, it’s crazy,” Hemphill-Mapps said. “People coming up to me when I was at the concession stands, they knew who I was. That’s crazy.”

“After the game Coach K said, ‘When you get here, be ready to play.’”

“It’s nice knowing that I’ll get to play right away,” Hemphill-Mapps said. “I got to do what I got to do in high school because I’m graduating early.”

“It’s much more of a pro-style mix right now,” Hemphill-Mapps said. “You know, it’s a good balance between run and pass. I think they hadn’t really opened up the playbook that much because it’s all kind of the same play.”

“I’ll mess with them (Manvel teammates) about it. I won’t push them, I’ll just mess with them, be like ‘we’d be good together at UT,’” he said. “(It) would be great. Keep that friendship going.”

More from WR JF Thomas of Dallas South Oak Cliff (24/7):

“I was feeling good about it. I was waiting on them (Texas) to offer me, to be honest, and they finally did it,” Thomas said. “TCU is good, but Texas is on the next level. That is the next big step. But TCU is where I want to be and I’m going to go ahead and stick with them.”

“She (Thomas' mother) just wants to see me up there. TCU is about 25 minutes, 30 minutes from home,” he said. “The new offense is good. We run the same thing here. I’m just going in with different routes, but mainly the same thing with same formations.”

“The head coach. He’s really cool. He’s telling me come on over there, that’s what he wants me to do,” he said. “I’m going to be at Texas’ next game. Their next home game. Austin isn’t too far from home.”
