This is only going to get worse once Kobe retires. How many stories will come out of the woodwork then?

Kobe fans are so re ed, I was at the gym the other day and some guy was like "Im a huge Kobe fan", this was the day after he played the spurs. I said "man, that 1-14 game was rough last night for him, he is struggling this year". Then the guy goes "Whatever, he scored 81, he is the best".

Then, to nobody's surprise this gt ended up being a total ball hog and called his own fouls when he wasnt even touched, and when everyone got on his for being a punk (people were literally laughing at his foul calls), he quit the game... LOL Kobe fans

Actually, Byron Scott might break his own record for the longest losing streak. He set it at 26 with the Cavs back in 2011. This guy is like a tanker's pros ute.
Bryant is the clown the LA fans pay to see, so if the owners tell him to pass the ball, he's going to sulk like he did in the Phoenix game and do the passive aggressive thing. He's basically a with a ty hair cut.
This thread is like a fine wine. This is only going to get better, tbh.

Stop making up. People were talking about iverson Marbury Francis and their chucking ways in the 00s and appalled by their shot selection.

They were talking about how efficient Stockton was and amazed at his efficiency in the 90s.
    no, they weren't..

Iverson was universally praised for his scoring and "carrying" the 6ers to the Finals, there was rarely any discussion about his efficiency..

Kobe's efficiency wasn't a talking point until recently, too..

Using hardcore fans as a barometer is stupid, I'm referring to mainstream media, which isn't even arguable IMO..the coverage is entirely different today, can't even be debated..

why did you put "carrying" in quotes though ... that was an abomination of a roster. it was a weak conference though.

So 3 mainstream articles, 1 of them was Rosen's article that didn't have any analysis, and the other is Hollinger, the pioneer of the new media coverage..

compared to literally dozens of articles in the past 2-3 weeks alone, along with ESPN citing Kobe's inefficiency several times in this week alone..

In the previous era, maybe 1 out of every 10 articles would cite efficiency..today, I'd bet that at least 7/10 articles would mention efficiency..

Kobe has always been inefficient some seasons worse than others of course ... only difference now is he is older and his team sucks. ESPN articles just generating "hits" as you have pointed out advanced metrics wont be kind ... sure he is chucking at a higher rate than normal but his teams sucks worse than normal. This team fits his baser instinct to take bad shots.

Who said anything about having to have any analysis? Fact was even an old dinosaur like Rosen would see efficiency as an important barometer of a player's worth.

Then Hollinger, who is as overrated as they come in terms of the use of metrics, was already putting work in by measuring Kobe's efficiency in a single game.

Of course there was a writer blasting Iverson for his inefficiency in the main stream media.

And another one calling Kobe out on his normally inefficient chucking and one game to make a point.

    But you dismiss them.

Because you are moving your goal post.

It went from Iverson being "universally praised", and "Kobe's inefficiency not being a talking point", to:

the frequency of these articles, and having a total unicorn stat of 7/10 articles mentioning efficiency in today's media, and maybe 1 out of 10 in the previous era.
Malik Hairston, just making up as you go, and changing the goal post from post to post.

I don't think prime Kobe was notably inefficient, tbh..he was less efficient than most other great scorers, but he wasn't Iverson-level..

Using an extremely tiny percentage of articles to prove your point is pretty stupid, tbh..

That's like Harlem claiming that the American South wasn't racist towards Blacks because a few White people were tolerant at the time..

I guarantee that if I look back a few years into your posts on ST, there are probably tons of posts from you criticizing the media for the type of coverage they used when covering Kobe, tbh..

It's not like I went into any in depth research in the articles. Go to google, set the date range to the "old era", type in "Iverson inefficient", or "Kobe inefficient" and you get the hits. The results are in the top 2 or 3 pages.

What you are asking for is basically list out thousands upon thousands of articles, which is just logistically impractical, and you know it.

So I am reversing the tables. You list out all the articles that were written in the new era from mainstream media, every single one of them, then highlight the ones that talk about efficiency. You better fine 70% or more of them citing efficiency in the article.

You will not hear Byron Scott criticize Kobe.

During their 1-9 start, hes done nothing but praise him. He knows dissing Kobe would probably mean losing his job.
