If anyone is making that comparison, it's because Kobe has made every effort to be like Mike. He modeled his game after MJ, modeled his personality after MJ, modeled his approach to games/practice/teammates after MJ, etc. He'll never be anything more than a second-rate MJ, and he brought it on himself by utterly copying another player in every way.
Tim Duncan, on the other hand, created a model for how to play basketball. There's no one else like him and never will be.
