I just want to have a decent conversation about Bowen. I want someone in here to seriously tell me that Bowen doesn't foul a lot and isn't a benefit of the Spurs reputation with the league and the refs. If you think Bowen plays good defense tell why.

I think Bowen plays good NBA defense, which means he is chippy, not dirty. Most NBA players are. They stretch the rules as far as they can until they get busted. We can take any NBA game and break it down play by play and probably find some sort of violation on almost every play. This is not exclusively a Bowen thing. He understands the system and works within it.

Bowen does foul a lot. But he's also an excellent defender. Ron Artest fouls a lot. He's also an excellent defender. It's just how it goes. It's not a conspiracy, it's not a plot by David Stern, it's the way it is. In some weird way they've earned the right to have questionable contact overlooked once in a while.
