Management thinks most people buy tickets to see Kobe, not the coach. I don't agree with it, and think people are more excited about seeing a winning team, but Lakers management seems to be going the other direction.
Getting rid of Kobe is probably the ideal situation for the Lakers now, but then Kobe wouldn't go (paycheck), management wouldn't allow it to happen (optics, illusion of revenue, appeasing the loudest fans).
And I doubt too many coaches (good ones) are looking forward to coach a sinking team like the Lakers.
