Actually, i've changed my mind. Manu will come off the bench and Elliott will start...
Ok people, lets hear it, build your all-time spurs team taking into account chemisty, roles and style of play.
These must be the players that played on the Spurs, so you dont get Steve Smith the star, you get Steve Smith the spur.
Also mention who you would have as Coach/GM, i think I'd go with Pop/Buford
As a not so old school fan heres my shot at it.
C Robinson
PF Duncan
SF Manu
SG Gervin
PG Parker
Elliott
Silas
Avery
Rodman
mings
Anderson
Bowen
How did I do?
Actually, i've changed my mind. Manu will come off the bench and Elliott will start...
Can you please spell Elliott correctly before timvp goes nuts?![]()
I know I know 2 t's
Maybe Artis times in San Antonio wasn't his best but he was one of the best big mens in '70 and early 80's
STARTERS
C David Robinson
PF Tim Duncan
SF George Gervin
SG Manu Ginobili
PG Tony Parker
BENCH
C Artis Gilmore
PF Larry Kenon
SF Sean Elliott
SG James Silas
PG Avery Johnson
DEFENSIVE SPECIALISTS
Alvin Robertson
Bruce Bowen
You see thats what i need the direction you older people bring :p As I'm really only familiar with the 90s Spurs.
Special K, should have remembered him though, as well as Gilmore....
c-will perdue
pf-td
sf-drob
sg-gino
pg-AJ
a little unorthodox
Given the fact that there's a lot of scoring firepower in the squad, I'd move Manu and Tony to the bench and start Bruce Bowen and Alvin. That gives the 1st team 3 all-NBA level scorers plus a defensive iden y.
Starters:
C David Robinson
F Tim Duncan
F Bruce Bowen
G George Gervin
G Alvin Robertson
2nd team:
C Artis Gilmore
F Larry Kenon
F Sean Elliott
G Manu Ginobili
G Tony Parker
no love for johnny moore?!
A healthy Duncan and Robinson would be the scariest duo ever.
And who's gonna guard Gervins man?
And I would definetly put Johnny Moore as the backup PG. Even tho the guys an asshole. Terry mings as backup PF.
I can only assume that you guys are not starting James Silas because you never saw him play. Only two Spur guards have ever been first-team all league, and Silas is the other. No way any other guard except Gervin gets mentioned before him.
Starters:
C David Robinson
PF Tim Duncan
SF Shawn Elyut
PG James Silas
SG George Gervin
Bench
C Artis Gilmore
PF Larry Kenon
SF Mike Mitc
PG Tony Parker
SG Manu Ginobili
Honorable Mention
Alvin Robertson, Avery Johnson, Bruce Bowen, Johnny Moore
and timvp, putting Gervin at SF is a complete wuss-out.
(Still keeping off the ciggies?)
I am 37 and I don't even remember James Silas...TimVP was like -3 when Silas played his last game.
LOL at least you put Drob on my team.

Oldschool Legendary type player that like 2 living people saw play, but who has been romanticized by notstalgic geezers into being better than Wilt, Magic, Bird and Jordan all rolled into one
James Silas

All defensive team:
C - D Rob
PF - Duncan
SF - Bowen
SG - Robertson
PG - Johnny Moore ?
That's some acious D.
Todays trivia question:
Who holds the NBA record for steals in a game?(Hint: it's not Alvin Robertson)
Larry Kenon.
*wheeze*
LMAO Shoogar
BTW...I honestly do think Bruce has now earned the all time starting SF slot for the Spurs. Yeah he's not an offensive juggernaut, in fact he just might be the worst offensive player to ever start at that position for an extended period, scratch that, he is the worst one...but he's still got something that makes that spot his own, a tone setter maybe?
