Not trying to take away from your victory.....congrats.
BUT....that wasn't a comeback. That was a chokejob.......
I feel UNC battled and pushed us to the limit. But as I was telling my Dukie buddy throughout the game "UNC has the athletes and even bodies inside BUT they can't shoot". When the Heels have legit 3point shooters, they are almost unbeatable....and it's once a decade. Duke is disciplined and foxy with the 3 point shot.
Until Pop wins without Duncan, I can't put him above Coach K. Same with Bill Belicheck and Brady
Good god you have Hoops Czar level takes, tbh..
as if coach K didn't have elite recruiting classes one after another
Coach K evolved like no other Basketball coach. He doesn't just wake up in each Preseason with Tim Duncan on his roster.
That was time spent recruiting
that has nothing to do with my point. he's had elite talent
Coach K is the Phil Jackson of college. Dude gets 5 star recruits falling in his lap year after year. Then when he doesn't, he quits on the team for two years because he's "sick" and let's his assistants take all the losses.![]()
So does this mean that elite college coaches are always better than elite pro coaches? When you factor in recruiting, "waking up with Duncan/Brady/etc"
No but there are exceptions
I like Coach K. I think his smartest decision was not to accept the Lakers coaching job when Cancer was lobbying hard for him.
McDonald's All-Americans
Kentucky-9
Duke-8
Noone else has more than one. Coach K has a load of advantages over the compe ion at Dook. Granted he helped build the program but it's not like he was winning nefore he started getting those HS All-Americans. Pop had Duncan but he also had a limited budget and San Antonio not being appealing to FAs going against him. Plus IL talks about evolution, how about the evolution of the Spurs style once Duncan aged past his prime.
Rat face is a got who will keep hogging the national team to recruit guys to Dook.
Really dude. So what about when the Spurs were just a good team between '08 - '11. Pop goes out gets Kawhi, Green, Splitter, and develops each to great defensive players. Adds Complimentary pieces like Mills and Diaw as well.
Pop has totally evolved this team since the first day he coached it. He has perfected the Spurs system. And I am sorry, having a 38 yo Duncan isn't going to win you championships. Developing the aforementioned players, and establishing the best Offensive and Defensive system in the NBA, if not the world, does.
Coach Pop > Coach K. I have extreme respect for Coach K, but Pop is probably the best coach in the world right now. You should be proud being he is Aryan and all.

Until Rat Face goes to the NBA and has success there, he doesn't even belong in the same paragraph as Pop, let alone the same sentence. Rat Face isn't even better at the college level than coaches like Gregg Marshall and Tom Izzo, who do more with less and don't need the refs to win games for them.
No, but McDonald's All-Americans magically wake up every year with $100,000 bling courtesy of Rat Face.
