That sucks for Nick, but he does have a guaranteed deal next year -- it definitely increases the chances for Noel to be signed for the rest of the season.

I find it hard to imagine how a PF tear is only going to cost a month. must be a micro-tear.

    Collison Partially Tears Plantar Fascia
    Kevin Pelton, SUPERSONICS.COM | March 6, 2006

    http://www.nba.com/sonics/news/collison060306.html

Seattle SuperSonics forward Nick Collison will be sidelined indefinitely after partially tearing the plantar fascia in his left foot during last night's win over the Utah Jazz.
The initial prognosis is that Collison will miss four weeks of action to rest the injured foot.

Collison was injured while grabbing a rebound in the final minute of the first quarter against the Jazz. He had five points and three rebounds, playing the entire period, but did not return thereafter. An MRI conducted today revealed the severity of the injury.

Since missing his entire first NBA season following surgery on both shoulders, Collison played all 82 games in 2004 and 58 of the Sonics 60 games thus far this season. He missed two games last month for the birth of his daughter, Emma Sloan.

Collison has started 26 times this season, including his last 11 games. He has averaged 9.2 points and 6.6 rebounds this season as a starter.

Chris Wilcox will likely take Collison's spot in the stating lineup at power forward. Wilcox started both games Collison missed and has averaged 26.5 minutes per game since joining the Sonics in a Feb. 14 trade from the Los Angeles Clippers. Wilcox has averaged 12.4 points and 5.6 rebounds in eight games with the Sonics.

Collison's absence should also mean more playing time for backup big man Mikki Moore, who played 15 minutes last night, scoring four points, grabbing four rebounds and two blocks. Rookie Noel Felix, who made his NBA debut against the Jazz after signing a 10-day contract with the Sonics on Thursday, could also see some action backing up Wilcox.

They are bringing in another PF on a 10-day. They are using Noel at the 3 for the most part. So I hope they still decide to sign him for the rest of the year.
