the travesty that is that Tim Duncan never got it still gets to me. As well as Bruce Bowen never getting one either... and BTW he's probably salty right now...

I thought he would win it. His missed games were greatly overexaggerated by people on this forum. He didn't miss THAT many games, and they were all early in the season, when no one cared anyway. He finished strong, and that's why he won.
The reason Duncan never won it is that he's too good of an offensive player. Voters prefer to vote for defensive-specialists for this award. Bowen should have won it, but honestly Kawhi is an even better defender.
I mean, his nickname is the Claw. When your nickname is predicated on your defense...you're probably a DPOY.
Kawhi's career looks better and better. Defensive reputation is skyrocketing, probably gets first team all-defense and hopefully an all-nba team as well. He should be able to get away with a lot of bull soon.

Wow, great for Kawhi - and well deserved too.
I was pretty sure that the DPOY award would go to Draymond Green because of the number of games Kawhi missed (and because that for most of the season at least, I was under the impression that there was more media coverage/hype surrounding Green). And make no mistake, Green would have been worthy of winning the thing as well.
Let's hope this is just the start of many more great things to come for Leonard and the Spurs.
