No, but if someone is giving one away, why choose the kid who can't drive just because his father is a race car driver?
Could be, his dad grew like 6 inches at the Academy.

Obviously it is for David's kids.
You're really good at sophistry. If he had a shot at Duke and didn't make it, chances are he'll have a full scholarship at UCLA, Ohio State, or Texas. Four years of free college, with room and board. I know, I know... that's horrible.

I guess Coach K and David Robinson just don't have the same level of human understanding and civility that you do. That's why they're out there stealing scholarships and ruining lives.
Btw, Kid cant be that bad.
Same for David's kid... oh wait, no he wouldn't because his shot at Duke had little to do with his basketball a en.
Ad homs really get your point across. You're a bag just like David. Good talk.
Let's put it differently where some of you mouthbreathers can understand:
1. White kid with wealthy white father gets a full ride at Duke, while his basketball stats were meh...
2. Black kid with better stats gets rejected from Duke..
3. Someone says "no problem, if he could get a look from Duke he'll be fine elsewhere.."
, there's other water fountains, why do you want to drink from this one? Why do you want to sit in the font of the bus, what's wrong with the back seats? Why do you need to use the same bathroom? With those analogies it's clear where the injustice lies. Put your favorite person in there though and change "white" to "star athlete" and you're now defending it.
Nice try.
Your original argument was that a poor black kid was having his one shot at a good life taken away because he wouldn't be going to Duke, and thus his life was ruined.
It's silly argument, and you know it.
If he was trying to get a scholarship at Duke through basketball and some hanger on's kid was getting bumped up the line, that's going to cancel his chances at getting that scholarship. Sure he can go elsewhere, so can the black guy who cannot drink at the white fountain. How is that fair? So now you think it's ok for black kids to be denied a good education so that stars can have their kids fill the rosters on these teams?
Dude, he joined the team as a preferred walk-on. When he started at Duke, he didn't have a scholarship. Preferred walk-ons are by definition those players who are given a chance to prove themselves to earn a scholarship. He apparently proved himself, and earned that scholarship. Here's what the article stated:
Do you have a problem with this only because he's the child of a rich father? He apparently has the talent to prove himself as a preferred walk-on. Scholarship should be given on ability, not need. It shouldn't be a freaking hand-out for the poor.Back in mid-December it was reported that 6-foot-8 forward Justin Robinson, a two-year all-state selection in Texas and the son of San Antonio Spurs great David Robinson, would join the Duke basketball program as a preferred walk-on in 2015-16. Preferred walk-on positions give players the opportunity to join the program in hopes of eventually doing enough to earn a scholarship, and that was something Robinson was on board with.
Ok, good, so you admit the original theory of the kid's life being "ruined" was just histrionics on your part. That's a start.
So now you're equating Coach K taking a chance on a kid with the DNA of NBA royalty with a a systematic policy of segregation? Sorry, that doesn't work. The kid in scenario #1 goes to a Division 1 college not named Duke on a free ride. He is not "denied an education." The thousands or millions of kids in scenario #2 are simply being denied basic rights. Pretty different scenarios.
The kid is a very good student. He is a better student than basketball player. I have seen him play. He is very long, a good 3 point shooter, and very weak. Some big changes are going to have to take place for him to ever see the court. Duke is so loaded with good players...
He could have made it in on academics alone most likely.
2018 NBA CHAMPION SPURS FEATURING LEONARD, DUNCAN, AND ROBINSON
He's upset because only poor black kids deserve scholarships. Pretty specifically. For basketball only, screw that academic nonsense.
One thing I have noticed about DMC is he tries very hard to be a contrarian even when its for pointless stuff.
Grant Hill called and said you're a dumb .
Say what you want, but having 2 kids playing Div. I sports, one as a football player at Notre Dame, and another as a hooper at Duke, is pretty cool, especially for Dave. He's gotta be a proud papa tbh.
if he was denied the money didnt matter anyway
Speaking from a basketball standpoint only, I have to believe he'll at least be better than Ayres and Bonner. What should his nickname be? The Little General 2.0? The Lieutenant?
Sure he did.
Sure he does. His HS record is amazing. Tori Spelling apparently had the talent to prove herself as an actress, she was on 90120 for how long? Autism Rivers apparently had the talent to prove himself as a starting PG, else he wouldn't be starting for the Clippers in the playoffs.Do you have a problem with this only because he's the child of a rich father? Not at all. Think of Rudy at ND. Would he have accepted playing football at Wayland Baptist?
Elitist preferential treatment that always, always... always means someone else who deserved to be there got dismissed. So now you're equating Coach K taking a chance on a kid with the DNA of NBA royalty with a a systematic policy of segregation? But he didn't.
