ding ding ding. The FO has been pat for 20 god-damn years tinkering around with little, precise, intelligent moves. No way in they let all that go to in a hand basket for "a shot" at LaMarcus Aldridge. Its either a done deal, or we're getting Lebron. This move was a major move and won't come without equal, if not more, returns.
Prostrating themselves for Jason Kidd in 2003 should have taught them that lesson. I wonder if there are no details about the Splitter trade because the Spurs will rescind it if LMA goes elsewhere.

With the Spurs trading Splitter this morning, they must know he will sign with SA. Just can't see trading Splitter without have some kind of assurance.....Maybe LA does not want to be rude and cancel the meetings on the other teams?? lol one can wish! lol
That is what Ira Winderman was telling Francesa today. All of LA's meetings are in Los Angeles so the teams have already flown out there to talk to him so it would be kinda rude if he just cancelled there meetings after they flew out there.

Spurs had to show they were all-in to sign him, and that there was already space to sign him. Not "we will sign you if we can make a deal". They sent a strong message with the Splitter deal, just ahead of the meeting.

Making a deal with Green early was another strong message. It says, "If you sign here, we're committed to spending money to put players on the floor with you."

For LMA to announce, before his other meetings would be an insult to those other teams. Those kinds of things come home to haunt you down the line. His agent wouldn't have let him do it, if nothing else. Doesn't mean he's signing in SA, but there was no way he was going to say he'd made a decision before giving the other teams a chance to present.

Nothing adds up...choosing Tyson Chandler, over your idol Tim Duncan, and choosing Brandon Knight over Kawhi Leonard? Not to even mention as much as I give Pop he is at least 10x the coach Hornacek is. I really think Aldridge just got caught up in the moment in a great meeting but when he sits down and thinks about it he will realize what he is doing.

    Phoenix: Bledsoe
Houston: Ariza, that Greek got they have, and one of Jones or Motiejunas would open up enough space

They would both require Cleveland trading them Haywood though, which I think the Cavs would do in a second for Bledsoe and probably never for Houston's trash.
Suns are not trading Bledsoe. He was in the meeting with Aldridge, they can't move him for Aldridge.

We've yet to see the Splitter trade details. He has missed 53 games over the last 2 seasons and averaged less than 20 minutes a game last season. At this point, a package of draft rights to some international players and a future draft pick(s) would be good value, also considering the cap room it frees up.

The corpse of Tyson Chandler won't get LMA to choose the Suns over the Spurs.
I still laugh about when the headline on ST said "Spurs trade for Jefferson" I thought, "Oh my God, the Spurs got Al Jefferson!"

so you would rather be the face of Circus-Circus than co-owner of The Wynn? Enjoy.

Lillard is more the face of that franchise. That being said I can't see how PHX is nearly as desirable as any of the Texas teams or Portland. If he chooses PHX then I'd reluctantly say "good luck, you wouldn't have fit in here anyways." Obviously I'd be able to tell him that directly.

I knew it was a mistake for Pop and Timmy to go out and pitch to LA.

Should have sent Kawhi all by himself.

No, LMA is much more widely known than Lillard.

Leonard could have slid the contract across the table to LMA and closed the deal with one word "indubitably"
