Economically speaking, going back to Portland doesn't make sense. Sure, he gets the guaranteed 5th year, but with the cap about to explode, that's actually leaving money on the table.

Not to mention that it's easier for him to extract one more big money deal at 34 than at 35...
A future contract beyond three or four years isn't a guarantee. It makes financial sense to take a 5yr deal because it's a guaranteed $27M.

In this market- not necessarily a bad deal. I'm still reeling at Baynes for 20. The Other Lopez for 20 for 1 year!!! What the crap!

meanwhile, Spurs give away their starting center (Splitter) for nothing. Explain that to me.

Jesus 4000+ post for 2nd option.

I've said it already, he already agreed verbally with the spurs with a 37-39 million two year deal.

Sure looking like Lamarcus packed his stuff and ran away from home like a 5-year-old. He just wants to be wanted. Lillard is probably the first one in the organization to make an effort. Everyone else just expected him to be gone.
He knows what he has with them...no mystery or intrigue. If you've ever been recruited by someone else, it's pretty cool to get a peek into how other organizations think, and how you might fit. Different is interesting. That doesn't mean at the end of the day he's going to make the jump.

I mean, everyone tabbed the Spurs as the front runner because they're a first class organization. I think they have a legit shot. But, I can also see a scenario where he doesn't make the jump after all.

    I'm offically getting really worried.

if he had made up his mind in anyway, he would not be taking second meetings, and teams like the Suns would not be fire selling if they were only a chance to get him. Im really happy we resigned Danny and Kawhi but we have litterally no depth at the 5 and in the current market I dont know if our cap space will get anyone available thats as good as either Tiago or Banger

Great, by the time LMA makes up his mind the Spurs will be picking through the free agent scrap pile and D-league centers.

Why are you asking me to explain anything to you? Are you making assumptions about my overall importance?

Yup.... this indeed is a problem considering that LA doesn't want to play center and doesn't want to do the dirty work of having to defend against the opponents offensive big.

Big disaster in the making if we Spurs don't get anything from the Splitter dump.

Maybe the FO just wanted to flip Splitter via cap space for a center who isn't made of glass and they never cared about Aldridge.

Been saying that's the likeliest scenario since this thing kicked off.
The benefits of signing the huge deal in two years when the cap rises significantly outweigh the current MAX deal the Blazers can offer. All you have to do is remain healthy for two years.

As a matter of fact, I haven't checked that site since the 2nd interview was agreed to. I NEED to read those posts!

A center who plays 50% of the time is better than no center at all. It is even worse if you want to spare Duncan from having to work his ass off.

Phoenix needed to dump those players to create space for TC and Sarver is notoriously cheap so it makes sense. Banger was long gone, our QO would have not meant anything if Detroit was wiling to pay 3/20 off the bat in a fairly quick deal. Tiago is the mystery and the Spurs pulled the trigger fast either knowing they have a way to get Aldridge or just being fed up with Splitters inability to heal quickly or play through mystery injuries. He went to a good organization and we don't know exactly what we would get in return, lots of moving parts right now.

Ultimately Aldridge will come here though, that's my belief, he's just taking his time to make sure everyone has had an opportunity to say everything they can to him and he's taking a 2nd with Lakers because of basketball reasons, maybe they have a plan to trade for someone and he needs to know about it. It's a process but he's going through it meticulously. It's only day 2 of FA.. Plenty of time to figure out what we will do once we land him and if we don't plenty of time to make deals, call FA's, see who's available overseas, Summer League guys..
