Splitter, when healthy, is the best pick-setter in the NBA, he's an incredible defender, both team and one-on-one, and he can draw fouls at an alarming rate. It's the healthy part that kills his value.
I agree his sense of how to dive to the basket is incredible but Baynes set more physical screens in terms of immediate separation caused.

Porker needed a crane to get back to the hotel?
No but he's facing a subsequent lawsuit for eating too much.. In parkers defense it was "all you can eat"

    ...provided he's reasonably healthy.
This is not a throw-away line. It's the crux of the entire decision. He wasn't reasonably healthy.

This delay really makes no sense. Hope I'm wrong but this could point to a guy torn in a decision and loyalty to his current team thus why we now hear the Blazers are back in it. Ridiculous if that would happen. Would be embarrassing for him.

A physical screen isn't necessarily a good screen. Splitter could move and stop, and was always in the right place. He could set a screen away from the ball that would end up with a layup two passes later. That discipline will be missed.

Nah, no one would remember long-term. And tbqh, most of the time players do choose more money and stick with their team.

What you are talking about is a bit more involved than simply setting a screen. I'm not going to argue that his offensive execution wasn't excellent.
