He could still be back.
Tiago Elliott?
He could still be back.
Sure... if he signs for the vet. minimum.
Will happen if he doesn't get any offers elsewhere. Kind of like what happened to Baynes last year.
You know, if all he could get is a min contract, then from a strictly practical point of view, the Spurs should probably cut him loose.
If he's given up guaranteed money to help the team (and I have to basis for doubting you) then, yeah, it would be crappy of the team to do that. It will say a lot about the organization (again) if they take a hit at a critical time. And I'm sure they will, unless there is some other way to make him whole.
Joseph will definitely get offers from other teams. Toronto specifically has already expressed interest in him.
how do you get posts to appear in the think tank, I started a thread on a dude I think we might have some interest in, same guy who flagged with me our interest in Aron Baynes I posted a thread on him but its still not showing?
Anyway, Ryan Broekhoff, played last season in Turkey, has come over to play for Denver in SL, he is a shooter, a 6'7 wing. He was the starting 2 guard for the Australian National team. Can play small forward. Can shoot it at a very good clip.
For me he is a cheap Belli replacement. Time with the Boomers means familiarity with our system yada yada...
Do you know whose +/- numbers were very similar David West's (actually slightly better)? Luis Scola!

Scola thread!
Would this make Manu happy?
Chinook approves them tbh.
Doubt if Danny's cousin Gerald Green can be had,but he's the best player that's possibly available, other than David West.Fills a sore spot on the roster.
What's interesting is that we may see a few more lower-tier (not bottom tier) free agents sign below-market deals this season with the hope of striking big in the bonanza of next summer. I can see Gerald Green being one of those people. Dude knows that a good system can make a guy look a lot better than he really is (the first year in Phoenix). I could totally see him signing on the with the Spurs if they'll have him in hopes of getting a bounce in his stock playing the same system that showcased his cousin. Thinking guys like Greg Smith, Tyler Hansbrough, Darrel Arthur, Jeff Taylor, Udoh, Thornton, Casspi and Reggie Evans. Some of those guys will get bigger offers, but the young ones have a chance to get a ton more if they have a great season. , they can have a mediocre season like Baynes did and still get paid.
Green even mentioned on Twitter that, to paraphrase, he wouldn't be surprised to see him back someday.
I wouldn't be surprised if they've let him know they want him back when his contract is up in two years. The problem is that second season, if Duncan retires after this one.
Off the top of my head, Jefferson, Mozgov and Whiteside, will be the best free agent C's next year. Jefferson could be in play, but he's not a good fit and the other two are likely to re sign with their respective teams. It wouldn't surprise me if they turn to Hibbert, who'd probably love to play here, even with Duncan retired.
I'm not a fan, but I must admit, as limited as he is, it's not going to be easy to do better.
would scola take the min?
The thread in the TT should be all edited and approved now.
thank you sir!
Gerald Green will be looking to make money. Spurs can't afford him.
If Spurs can't sign West, then Scola for the minimum should be a good deal.
Well, as I mentioned, he lost a bunch by having a bad year with the Suns. I think he may see the prospect of being in the Spurs system the year before the cap explodes worth the couple million he'd be giving up by signing a min deal. Also remember that this is his ninth season NBA. His minimum is actually a decent size.
Players that can jump out of the gym are paid a premium in this league.
Gerald Green's entire career disagrees with you.
considering his lack of real skills... he got overpaid.
He made a difference in game 6 WCF in 2014.
Wouldn't mind Green, at all..really solid spot-up shooter IIRC, creates his own shot and finishes very well..big flaws are horrible shot selection and lazy defense, but I don't know if that will deter the Spurs, since Gary Neal had the same flaws and he thrived with SA(Green is much more talented, too)..
The possibilities are getting quite exciting
I'd be perfectly content with getting Gerald Green, but I'd be really surprised if he takes a minimum deal. He might've had a down year, but he wasn't TERRIBLE or anything. Above average PER, put up 22 points per 36 on slightly below average efficiency. Also only one year removed from an impressive 2014 season where he put up 15 ppg and shot 40% from 3. Given the current market, I'd be shocked if someone doesn't go out and give him at least $4-5 million.
Casspi re-signed with Sacramento. It actually appears he had a decent season with them last year...would've liked him as a backup wing.
I guess Greg Smith wouldn't be horrible as a 5th big...he was actually pretty good with the Rockets a couple years back. Doesn't look like he had a very good season with Dallas last year, so he might be in our price range.
