lmao canchallena/lanacion just put up a filler article with his tweet

    http://canchallena.lanacion.com.ar/1...s-en-los-spurs
But its kind of lame, from being the only source that will announce to the world Manu´s intentions to just El bahiense publicó en twitter: "Seguiré siendo un Spur un tiempo más"

I'm not writing West off yet. He already ripped up a $12 million contract for this season. What's the difference between the $1.5 million minimum (and no state taxes) and the $2.8 million room exception when he can play for a year and hopefully cash in next season when salaries will be going through the roof?
West is a Spurs-fan wet dream right now. I just posted the bit about him opting out of $12.5M this season. I keep thinking that he meant he would agree to play for $6-7M, to get a shot at a ring. Him giving up $10M to play here is almost too much to hope for. But, then, I never got that pony at Christmas.

Every time someone like you says they still have hope, I start thinking "yeah, but what if". Logically, it's still not very likely. I know he mentioned the Spurs, but that was before all their money had been spoken for. Still, I hope your hope pays off.

    Awesome.

I honestly do not give a how the season ends. I just want as many moments as possible with Duncan, Parker and Ginobili still playing.
    That's exactly how I feel.

And now with Aldridge in the mix, it's gonna be a fun season. Can't wait for it to start.

I really think him opting out is huge. He could have just pulled an Amare and played for a couple of months and then asked for a buyout, but it seems like he wants to join a le contender from the very beginning. With GSW apparently passing it seems like it's pretty much between the Spurs, Cavs, and maybe Thunder, and the money should be similar since OKC should firmly be in luxury tax territory unless they let Kanter walk or he signs the QO.

Cool. With Green and Aldridge in the fold, Manu coming back makes a ton of sense. Still need to grab a good combo of old and young min guys.

The only teams I've seen listed as seriously contenders to get him are us, Cleveland, and Washington. Washington is obviously the least likely to actually contend for anything, but I believe they can offer him the MLE. Cleveland is the most likely to contend given they're in the East, but he'd also likely be the 5th big and would have a really limited role. They can offer him the mini-MLE, though. We have the least money to offer, but he'd have a legitimate role with us and would get to play for an organization he's shown a lot of admiration for in the past.

I don't expect him to come here, but I don't think it's a complete pipedream either. Apparently LeBron isn't doing anything until Tristan gets his contract, so maybe that will dissuade West from going there for now, and he'll just pick us.

This is as perfect an offseason as any of us could have ever hoped for

    1. Signed Duncan for another year, and at a steep discount
    2. Signed Leonard to a full 5 year max extension, which is market value first year and then cheap years 2-5
    3. Signed Aldridge to a 3+1 year deal
    4. Signed Green to a 4 year deal at a hometown discount
    5. Signed Ginobili for another year, and at a steep discount
    6. Did not trade Patty Mills
    7. Did not trade Boris Diaw

This was my absolute best case scenario for how this offseason could go and its here, and the Spurs might actually have a shot at David West too? Holy .
Yeah, a week ago when I considered all the cards that had to fall to keep this group intact...I didn't think there was any way in this could've happened. Absolutely best case scenario. Major props to PATFO for having the brains to envision the moves and the balls to execute them.

I'd be surprised if he doesn't choose the Cavs if they make the Johnson trade and move Varejao..it would give him a role as their 4th big(since Lebron hates playing the 4), and they would be the favorites to win the le while playing in the terrible East..

If they don't make the move, though, then I agree, the Spurs have a realistic chance of acquiring him..doubt he goes to Washington, I don't see the point if he's serious about contending..

What a difference Manu makes. The Spurs go from having a lot of question marks in their backcourt to having a pretty ing strong backcourt now with one tweet.

    Spurs roster as of now:

    Parker/Mills
    Green/Manu
    Leonard/Anderson
    LMA/Diaw
    Duncan/Bonner

Just need a backup C and we'll be set. Leonard can play 35+ a game next season so we won't need much for a backup SF.
Did Bonner re-sign or are you assuming?
