Check out how many (few) games he's played in the last five seasons.
Parker/Mills/Bertans
Green/Ginobili
Leonard/Anderson
Aldridge/Diaw/LJC
Duncan/West/LaLanne
?? Does this work for anyone?? And then sign Butler or Prince. I know it's one game but some insurance at the three wouldn't hurt.

With David West's signing, the floodgates have opened for veterans in the tail end of their career looking to chase a championship ring.
Some intriguing options whom the Spurs have reportedly shown interest in: Tayshuan Prince, Carlos Boozer, Caron Butler.
Hey bro, you forgot to list the intriguing options, tbh..
No thanks. Got enough old guys. I'd rather bring in youth for end of the bench filler.
Witty.
Seriously though, as much as we all want young, blossoming talent to fill the end of the bench, guys like that just won't come to the Spurs for the veteran minimum. They're looking to kickstart their careers and earn a big payday, not sit at the end of the bench and scrap for playing time.
At this point, our best bet is to look for veterans at the tail end of their career looking to chase a championship ring. Spurs management seems to agree, which is why they've reached out to the guys I mentioned.
Wayne Ellington is my ideal guy for the minimum tbh. Hopefully Danny can put in a good word with the FO and with Wayne.
He would be really good here. Probably fit well too.
Ish Smith wouldn't be a bad pickup.
Bench 1- Mills son, Patty needs to be the bench PG, period. Pop needs to stop ing around and assure Mills the back up PG position, no matter what. If he starts the season shaky, stick with him and allow him to work his game up. He's a game changer.
Patty is the backup PG, there's literally nobody the Spurs could bring in that could replace him now that Cojo is gone.....
My ideal 3rd unit:
PG - FA signing / Open Roster Spot in case of injury
SG - Wayne Ellington
SF - LJC
PF - Bonner
C - Lalanne or another cheap project big
Ellington is another shooter....LJC adds another defender....and Bonner is immortal.
No more Bonner!
I've been defending the guy the whole season last year, but he serves no purpose with West and Aldridge in the team.
Would rather see both Lalanne and Livio.
you can't kill Matty tbh, there's no point in arguing.
Small guards left....
Jason Richardson
J.R. Smith
Jason Terry
Ben Gordon
Austin Rivers
Willie Green
John Jenkins
Alan Anderson
Donald Sloan
Jeff Taylor
Will Barton
Wayne Ellington
Nick Calathes
Ian Clark
Glen Robinson III
Vander Blue
Donald Sloan, Dorell Wright, Jeff Withey I think are realistic youngish experienced targets who would be available at the vets minimum. Throw Bonner in there and some development talent and Spurs will call it an off-season.
I like Jeff Whitey, he's one of the few true centers available who's fairly young. A really good defensive player who's not a liability on the offense.
At the wing, Wayne Ellington is probably the best talent available, I'm not sure if he's willing to take the minimum though.
Point guards that are available right now are trash, good thing TP and Patty are enough with Manu and Boris helping out. A good 3rd stringer/insurance though is Andre Miller, and I bet he's willing to take the min for a chance at a ring.
The rest should be either LJC, Cady and/or Bertans then we're set.
As your 5th big, a guy who won't see minutes, who knows the system, can shoot the 3, and is actually a passable defender and will sign for the vet minimum? I don't mind Bonner coming back.
We're going to end up with Gary Neal and Bonner on minimum contracts to round out the roster...

Is Neal a FA?

Actually no nevermind, I just checked. He's already signed with Washington for 1 year $2.1 mil

Hopefully Danny Green can convince his cousin (Gerald Green) to take the minimum for a year in order to get better paid the following year
Mills
Manu
Gerald Green
West
Bobo

This will work for me:
Parker/Mills/Eddie
Green/Ginobili
Leonard/Anderson
Aldridge/Diaw/LJC
Duncan/West/LaLanne
13 Players. I think LJC should be part of his team for his defensive skills... 6 blocks in 23 minutes of play? I don't think Ayres got 6 blocks the entire time he played in Summer League.
If I were to pick LJC or Lalanne, I'd pick Lalanne. Dude is taller and certainly more of a center, which the Spurs need. At the very minimum he'd be an adequate Baynes replacement (funnily enough, he's a foul-a-minute guy like Baynes.... EIGHT FOULS in an exhibition game? lol)
