im very intrigued by this signing
imagine if plays for the long term....meaning he is able to adapt to the NBA game....
means we have a very reliable backup center moving forward
makes LaMarcus life easier, tbh

[QUOTE=cd98;8113596]Not sure if this is posted, but before signing Boban, Spurs had an offer for Joel Freeland, but he turned it down to make more money in Russia.

Would have rather had Freeland than Lurch but that's the way basketball go.
Bonner is eternal!![]()

His hands are bigger than his wife's head. He can probably palm 2 basketballs with 1 hand.
I love this signing. Yes is lumbering, but so what. He is massive and lumberjack strong. Even when surrounded, he seems to just muscle his way to a dunk, and one handed at that. I liked seeing some of those low post ball fakes. Then he got out on the perimeter and effortlessly drained some midrange jumpers. He seems to have a high BB IQ and is more versatile offensively than his athleticism would suggest.
Good job! Boban the Barbarian lives!
I would rather move Bonner to the coaching staff. He can be a real asset there. He can remain a part of the team, still push the guys in practice, but also learn the nuances of coaching under the best in the business.
Ideally, I would have preferred to do a sign and trade with CoJo and Bonner to Toronto and Sacramento.....where we get Thompson and Toronto gets our two......or just to Toronto for a couple of future 2nd round picks......but neither came to fruition.
So, keep Bonner as an assistant, in the mold of Sean Marks.
Well done.
Was struggling deciding between a West or Aldridge jersey, this make it simple. Marjanovic it is!
I wonder when the first Kawhi/Boban hands comparison photo shoot will occur?
Greetings from Serbia, Spurs fans.
At the end of the season i was realy sad, because i knew that Bobi(that's his nickname) will leave us. Now im happy and proud because he will join the best basketball organization in the world. When he said that he will go to nba, i said to myself- only Spurs please! He is realy perfect fit for you, and you for him. He is smart, modest, hardworking man with both(huge) feets on the ground. He has great basketball iq and plays hard for the team. Teammates loved him, fans adored him.
As for his basketball qualities, he is realy tall(obviously) and strong, but make no mistake, he can ball. On the low post he is almost unstoppable. He can turn over both shoulders and he is realy good finisher around basket. He will not be a clasic p'n'r guy(like Jordan is) but with right postioning and right space openings, he will roll inside and dunk on every player in front of him. His ft percentage is exeptional for a player of that size, so fouling doesnt help when defending him. Ofcourse, he gets a lot of rebounds, both ofensive and defesive due to his enormus reach. He can also defend. He is slow player when he needs to run, but he has realy fast hands and good reflexes. He doesnt blok a lot of shots, but he protects the rim well. Defencive 3sec in nba can be a problem, but im sure that greatest basketball mind ever(Pop) will find solution for that.
Thats all for now. If you have any questions, ask. I hope that Bobi will help Tim and Pop to get their 6th ring.
Go Spurs, go!
Cheers, zvezdas. Welcome!
Thanks. That's good to hear. I wish the season would start already.
Thanks Zvedas for the good write up. And welcome!![]()
I wonder if Pop will use him to help guard the Dwight Howard's of the world
Agreed. It's not like you're gonna get anything better for that 6th big, minimum-salary, last spot on bench guy. At least Bonner knows the system and is a very strong locker room guy. I'd like have him back for one more.

Thanks for the info man and welcome to ST. Just don't take anything that's said to you here personally.
holy mother of size, Marjanovic!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does this guy have bigger hands than Kawhi?
Welcome!
Go Spurs go!
Don't look too much into his stats in Europe, they were mostly empty stats...
Marjanovic rulessssssssssssss!!!!
It's a bit of dirty German slang. One who can "blow" whilst standing up.
