Spurs needed a vet shooting wing, Fredette is that but he is really short and not that good. I guess Spurs couldn't get better offering a min contract and without guaranteeing some playing time.

And for people saying he is a 15th player, it's more complicate than that. Anderson and Simmons have shown nothing at a level above D-League and summer league. Both might not turn into NBA caliber players. In that case, Fredette will be the 10th player on Spurs roster chart.

I am quite higher on both those guys than Fredette, to me Kyle specially. He has size, length, BBIQ and can rebound well. He played little last year, but passed the ball very well having the best AS to TO ratio in last year's rotation. I am obviously being a fan here, but he showed some things. He needed to work on his D, and his shooting. On those two fronts, we shall see, but he can play.

I guess I agree with you on one thing though, Fredette is short and not that good, so I am hoping the other two guys are a lot better. And might he take some playing time from McCallum. I admit I have not seen Ray play so I can't say anything to that, would love to hear other guys takes on this: McCallum v. Fredette.

It's a good signing. They get him in a year before Manu leaves so he can learn behind Manu. Jimmer can learn the system for one year before he starts getting more playing time.
He will Definitely get all the playing time he wants during blow outs along with Simmons and McCallum.
Spurs must really have been watching the Kings. They make a trade for McCallum, sign Jimmer, were looking at
Omari Casspi.
Maybe when the salary cap jumps to 89 million next year we go after Rudy Gay also with the Kings.

I can't tell you how much of a fan I was of Jimmer Fredette when he was in College. I started watching college basketball solely because of him. He was an absolutely amazing scorer -- just unstoppable. I've never seen a more exciting player in College BB or the NBA. And even though I had never rooted for BYU before or since, I'll always remember the feeling of being CRUSHED when Brandon Davies ruined the Cougars chances of winning the tourney because he decided to have sex with his GF at BYU and was suspended for the tourney. Funny that he ended up on the Spurs summer league team all these years later.
