Pop is not even bothering coaching these dudes. Messina on the first game was trying to win that game, Pop throwing the two he coached at the end.
He put up the weirdest lineups with a couple of guys in the rotation, surrounded by all the non-nba level talent. I think its a sink or swim strategy maybe?
Then the coaches sitting down with young guys in the team to fix up their mistakes and cut whoever is going to be cut.
    Otherwise doesn't make sense.
Most confusing... Seems to me that guys like KA, Ray, Simmons and possibly Butler could benefit from some coaching in these games rather than the "sink or swim" treatment. Personally I think they would benefit more from playing UP with guys above them on the depth chart rather than DOWN with training camp fodder. I am sorry that this mess was the first game I have seen.

Boban, in particular, is a disappointment. He is huge and he moves in a straight line with good speed. The good hands that were touted are nowhere in evidence, though, and I have yet to see his feet break contact with the floor. It is hard for me to imagine a player being serviceable in the league today who cannot jump AT ALL. he makes Artis Gilmore look like Dr. J. If he sticks we could call him B-train. I almost prefer Ndoye. I love his hustle and general athleticism. It's a pity he doesn't seem to have much in the way of basketball skill. Not sure he could ever reach the level of Reggie Evans, but that is who he kind of reminds me of. At some very low level, Thomas was better than I had anticipated. It's a shame we do not have the luxury of being able to send him to Austin for the year.

He looked extra bad this game
That is the unfortunate truth. I have really been keeping my fingers crossed and rooting for Simmons, hoping that with some mentoring from the great Manu he might blossom. Now it seems like he is playing himself off the roster at this point.

On the bright side (?!) compared to everybody except TD, his performance doesn't seem so bad... Tbh below the top 9-10 players we have warm bodies who seem like marginal NBA talent at best. It seems probable that the FO is willing to pay a considerable luxury tax this year. I would not be surprised to see a lot of the warm bodies jettisoned in the next month or two to make room for training camp culls and early season releases from other teams.

Marjanovic, Bonner, Thomas, Simmons and McCallum all seem very marginal. No doubt Boban will make the regular season roster. Bonner will be here unless he would prefer to move upstairs. Thomas is probably gone. Simmons may also be gone, but McCallum probably will be here. However, if we can pick up waived players better than Simmons or McCallum, those players could be gone by mid-season. I think Butler may stick. As for Williams and Jimmer: No.

Spurs have some issues now that every single prospect has disappointed
They have three more games to turn it around, but barring divine intervention, you are right. Adding LMA at the expense of all that we lost is looking more questionable - especially if Tiago has a solid, injury-free season in Hot 'Lanta. This roster seems very shallow in reliable players; hence the Spurs look more vulnerable.

Butler and Williams are making this roster, and Simmons and Fredette are getting cut is my current prediction.
Butler, yes; Williams, no; Simmons probably gone unless he makes a big turn-around; Jimmer is gone, unless we see him used more as a mere spot-up shooter, pouring in 3's at a 40% clip. It seems like PATFO envisioned him as a Marco replacement when he should be considered a Danny Green "3-and-No-D".

The issue w/ the scrubs is that none of the perimeter players can play off the ball nor can the big guys roll/catch thus the ball handlers keep trying to do too much off the dribble since they don't trust their teammates.
EXACTLY! Makes for a completely dysfunctional group on the floor. I don't know why Pop is mixing and matching like he is. Seems like the madness has outstripped the scientist...

Thomas is supposed to be a stretch 4 but he can't make an NBA 3. He also sucks at rebounding but is always seemingly chasing offensive rebounds instead of getting back on defense...he is also not a good defender either besides having quick hands. I'm not sure he's a better rebounder/defender than Bonner let alone shooter, he is just more mobile.
Yep, Thomas has very poor instincts. Won't work with Pop.

Thanks for sharing!!! I don't know if it's just me, but I think he has good chemistry with Anderson, they are often involved in a two man game, that I think given Anderson's youth and potential can develop into a future fun combo.
Oh God if these two are on the court together playing any significant minutes teams will just pick and roll us to ing death.

The second half of this game has a lot of Shaktin a fool moments. From Kawhi doing a Kobe impersonation putting up a contested fadeaway jump shot over 3 defenders to Slowmo getting in trouble in the paint after sucking about three guys in with him, Ray putting up the worst desperation heave I have seen after not realizing the clock had been reset to 14 after a kicked ball (), Jimmer trying to do too much getting the ball deflected and proceeding to dribble it off his foot, Thomas stepping out of bounds upon catching a ball in the paint, Simms terrible out of control play... I mean some stuff was flat out hilarious.

If you wanted to parody the Spurs just replay the second quarter of that game. Makes me realize why coaches love vets, all of the young guys (and some not so young) had at least one boneheaded play and some guys several. Some of the ugliest bball you will see but some stuff was flat out hilarious.

Spurs Shaktin a fool MVP have to go with Ray, the crazy 3 pt shot attempt had me crawling with laughter when I rewatched it.

dat Parker leadership tbh organizing a dinner with Tiago

too bad Kawhi and Manu are nowhere to be seen tbh... not everybody is a great teammate like TD, Tony, Boris and Matt tbh
Probably Manu was taking the Picture and Mills was sitting in the ground because Porker pulled his chair back to avoid the aussie to steal his spotlight...

"Splitter was beloved by his teammates in San Antonio, as evidenced by the guest list that accompanied him to dinner Tuesday: Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Boris Diaw, Patty Mills and Matt Bonner"

I agree with this. Now is the perfect time for Kawhi to just take over the game and use it as practice for working on the things he worked on this summer in game situations. It's one thing to work on moves in a gym, but you need game experience to be able to string moves together seamlessly, without having to think.
    who is polka-dot in sig?
