drug addiction is a disease/medical condition. starts with bad choices initially, obviously, but its easy to speak from an outside perspective

People who make bad decisions are supposed to be Darwinian statistics. Are you going to go into the forest & rescue newborns that were left to die b/c they weren't fit enough to survive in the wild? I went to the Harvard of Party schools but I didn't partake in any of the the binge drug/alcohol consumption even though everyone & their mama was doing it. I actually got ostracized & could have easily given in just to fit in but I stayed in my own lane b/c I knew what was best for me.

Once you're old enough to know what's good from bad then you should be responsible for your actions & shouldn't be babied like a toddler, otherwise you aren't fit enough to live in society & should be sent to a mental ins ution. If Lamar was a homeless dude then he would have been just another crazy crack head & just another statistic.

Free will is an illusion, technically no one is actually thinking, making rational decisions, or is responsible for anything. Rather, were acting out assigned social roles. (We do train ourselves extensively on behavior, so we at least act rational.)

Obv Lamar got some strong victimhood memes. Brain health is also a big deal. The autistics and sociopaths here on the message boards aren't known to understand emotions ave some people get brains that aren't calibrated our get in calibrated bits stress and injury...personally I think most emotions are dumb, but it's a defining human thing and had it's uses.

Anyway if this were football we'd be saying cte and moving on. I'd assume that prior to his latest drug use Odom had significant problems already maintaining his sense of self worth. You could.even respect him for laying this long.

or maybe he was a crackhead that liked crack

it's not that complex tbh. Lamar was weak at the beginning when he took on the rock from his peers. Nobody put a gun in his head.

Sure this happens all the time but just as often ppl refuse the rock. let's not act like it's more complex that it is.

he could have just as easily killed an entire family while driving high and I'm sure nobody would be giving any sympathy then

I agree with most of this but I have to say there are rare times when circunstances do force you to drugs. And comparing Harvard party peer pressure to peer pressure in the ghetto is really silly.

But, there is no evidence this is what happened to Lamar. All this speculation and sympathy is just people trying to get airtime and/or push their agenda.

thats fine. doesn't change anything i said. some people have more/less addictive personalities. i suppose you can call the weeding off of them darwinian, but those aren't necessarily heritable traits, which is what darwinism entirely deals with

Great to hear. Damn I hope Odom can get his life straight. I always liked him and I'd imagine he still has some money left since he has only been out of the league two years.

That is great, God (or whatever you worship) is good ... I hope this helps him find his way to the right path spiritually, religously but something that allows him to find peace in this world that is not at the end of a pipe or in some 's snatch-box.

Good news if he's ok. Even though he has had his demons, he's still very young and if he pulls through, he needs to seek sanctuary....far away from the Vegas, LA and the Kardashians.
