Not sure Pop has the heart to cut Bonner, and I think he can do some good things this year anyways.
Are you really going to go by NBA pre-season minutes sample size to claim Williams is a better shooter? Not to mention Reggie played in garbage time while Butler played against rotation players. What don't you check out their shooting percentage for the past 4 seasons & get back at me.
Not sure Pop has the heart to cut Bonner, and I think he can do some good things this year anyways.
I see Williams as redundant, too, but definitely proven while McCallum not so much. Hard call.
They already have that guy his name is Kawhi. If you think Simmons is a rotation player in the NBA then you are sorely going to be disappointed.
Wasn't able to catch the game, had a date night with the wife. Just checked the box score, seems Boban had an impressive night, Anderson as well, and Parker seemed to play decent.
Now I know the boxscore can say one thing and something else entirely different happened. So anyone able to do a quick roundup?
I do not know if Pop is capable of cutting the Rocket. That's why I just keep hoping he will retire, volunteer to go bye-bye.
How is Williams more proven than McCallum, when Ray has started more games than Williams? The only thing that has been proven about Reggie is that he's no better than the 15th man on an NBA roster.
In the regular season, teams aren't going to sag off Danny like that. At least the good teams won't. The question has always been whether Danny can/will make them with a guy in his face.
I was calling for the Spurs to bring him in this summer. He was a damned good Euro player, and a lot stronger than you might think. But I was still shocked when they got him - especially at that price. If he's making his rotations on time, he's got the ability to be a disruption in the paint. If you remember, Tiago picked up a lot of reaching fouls his first year (or two) because he was late getting there. Bobi has a high BBIQ, so nights like this shouldn't be a surprise. I think he'll be looked at as one of the bargains of the offseason. Not saying he'll be up for Rookie of the Year. But a of a good big off the bench, for what he's getting paid.
I think you nailed that one. Manu can still kick some ass in limited stretches. As long as he doesn't come in trying to do too much, and throw the ball away.
Spurs with KA and Diaw show that you can't play small ball against them.
The team with Mills, Manu, Anderson, Diaw and Duncan was very difficult to contain.
My problem with West is that he's too small to be a ring protector.
You got it pretty much. it was a good game. Green was hot mode, Aldridge got his groove back. Bench was kicking. Anderson continues his path to be a revelation for us this year. Boban monster defense, obviously against bench 3rd string guys, still good experience for him.
The only drama right now is we are pondering who gets cut.
Boban = very impressive. Looked like he could handle 8-10 mpg.
The starters all looked comfortable playing together. Especially Tony, LMA, and Danny.
No one really had a particularly bad night. Simmons and Reggie were okay. Butler looked like he fits in well and got a decent chunk of minutes with the 2nd unit. Going to be tough making the final cuts.
Thanks. I'm just pumped for opening night on Friday, who else is going to be there cheering their asses off
BTW how did Kyles defense look?
This is actually the first preseason game I was able to catch but I loved watching Boban out there. Card carrying member of the Church of Boban already. Hopefully someone more qualified than I can give you a good recap.
I think that's where boban comes in. I'd be pretty comfortable letting west run PF and boban run center.
-LMA went best mode & Danny couldn't miss.
-Tony picked his spots & didn't force the issue.
-Tim couldn't keep up w/ the young bucks so he had to sit on the bench
-Kawhi was coasting on both ends of the floor
-Patty/Kyle/Manu played well together
-Boban was looking like Sabonis in garbage time playing point-center & dominating the paint
-Williams/Simmons didn't do any to help their cause
-Diaw didn't make a shot but looked okay, same w/ Butler
-West is still trying to be a playmaker instead of looking for his shot
-Ray didn't back down when Beverley tried to punk him
-Bonner: DNP![]()
Reggie has more time on NBA rosters. Anomalous as it may be, I n 2010-11 the guy averaged over 9ppg, made over 100 3s and shot over 40% from 3.
Harden is still killing us, Ariza & Lawson looks very, very good, Capela is plenty good defensively but making tons of sop re mistakes. Jones looks somewhat underwhelming, will be interesting when Howard is getting his minutes back and Motiejunas is healthier. Those Rockets rookies don't impress me at all.
Sounds like a good night. I'm ready to see Boban in person, see just how big that er is.![]()
He was good, only once I cringed on a Corey Brewer transition dunk. He caught up with Brewer but was afraid to draw a foul and rather got out of the way, instead of trying to get in the play. Otherwise he was good.
I want me an Anderson one. Been a fan since b4 he showed us something. I just really liked his passing since college, and he's looking like he will help us this season.
Spurs with 2 winsit's preseason bud
It was against scrubs, but Boban and Kyle basically on their small ball lineup.
Eye opening a bit for Marjanovic. He's a smart player and eats up so much space. Is actually fairly fast for his size though laterally isn't great.
Anderson, I don't worry about anymore. He's got things figured out and fits with confidence. Still a number of things to improve but he no longer seems out of place.
