He's done a 180 on the son recruitment.
No idea why he thought he was solid last week.
Highlights from Higdon's recruiting chat. Important info in this one.
- Tren'Davian $#@!son is not solid. The situation keeps changing, but Texas is on a slippery slope here. $#@!son is "concerned" about the direction the offense is going in. Our chances of holding onto him by NSD are 50/50.
When he committed, TD trusted Strong to get this thing going in the right direction. This offense is not going to alway look the way it is right now. Either TD trusts what CS is telling him or he bails because he doesn't have faith in the relationship...it's that simple.
- Higdon is implying that if $#@!son decommits, "another option" (likely WR Kofi Boateng) has been in close contact with the coaches and will get a Texas offer.
- Texas could land a few flips, but don't look for us to flip recruits to the degree we did last year. Not unless a bunch of things change.
- Things are going very well with Jordan Elliott, Denzel Okafor, and Jean Delance. These three in particular Higdon feels very good about.
- 50/50 chance Justin Madubuike gives us another visit. Tough to say at this point.
- Former Michigan LB David Reese continues to insist he will visit Texas.
- Both DE Rahssan Thornton and DE Erick Fowler will give "a long, hard look at Texas" before all is said and done.
- We have ground to make up with DT Marcel Southall.
you might find this hard to believe BUT NFL GM's overlook all the time the "system" kids come from..that is not a knock on kids...if you have NFL talent they will find you regardless of the numbers...Guys that spend millions of dollars on these kids overlook stats all the time. Just ask Tim Tebow
- Glen Logan and Kristian Fulton will likely not visit Texas. But things are trending upwards with TE Jamal Pettigrew and DT DeAndre-Christmas Giles.
- No chance of landing former Miami commit Sam Bruce. He wants to stay in Florida with his family.
- On Innis Gaines: "Not a direction we are going in at this time."
- Nothing concrete on the Trophy Club kids, Kellen Diesch and Brandon Bowen. They are very quiet. Diesch really seems to like A&M.
- [On DL being the area of biggest concern] "I need to start seeing DL visit Texas as soon as the end of the season arrives. They have guys, and other guys they will offer more than likely but I need to see them start to visit very soon."
- OT Patrick Hudson will still probably visit Texas. Things will progress from there.
- Georgia is the team to beat for Robert Beal. Don't get your hopes up.

24/7 reporting UT's track team has offered a scholarship to WR Davion Curtis of Temple.
He's currently committed to Georgia and good friends with RB Devwah Whaley, who's considered a heavy Georgia lean.
It gets tricky because the rules state that the moment Curtis hits the football field, his scholarship does count against the roster numbers. See former WR Marquise Goodwin for an example of that rule as Goodwin came in on a track scholarship originally.

I can see a star WR not liking what he is seeing from us right now. With our young and inexperienced OL we are relegated to more run blocking and it's working. This tactic is setting up the passes. The misdirection running game looks to be getting very slick as Heard is ball faking well and making better decisions. Bringing DAje in motion and threatening the opposing Ds ability to contain wide is allowing running room in the middle. It looks good right now but certainly not what some of these prospect wideouts want. "You mean I gotta block and hold the block"
I must say that overall the above is mostly gloomy. Am I being too pessimistic as I thought we might be able to get some flips with things getting better? Some Dlineman have got to be more inclined? Secondary guys as well I would think given the age of that crew?
Very informative![]()
Per 24/7, ATH Ke'Mon Freeman of Texarkana Liberty-Eylau believes he is close to receiving a UT offer.
The coaches are recruiting him as a safety.

Scout spoke with WR Davion Curtis and the report of him being offered a track scholarship is false.
I really want Blacklock in the SEC so I can hear Verne try to pronounce his name on live television.
Per OrangeBloods, LB David Reese of Farmington, MI will take his official visit to UT on the weekend of December 12th.

This one is very sad.
Really heartbreaking tbh.
A few defensive coaches are now following JUCO DT Tyrell Chavis of Nassau C.C. on Twitter:

Update on WR Tren'Davian son after his Army Bowl ceremony (24/7):
Im still committed to Texas, son said. The stability of the program (is the biggest question mark) just people talking about is (Charlie) Strong going to be there? Is (Jay) Norvell going to be there? Is he still going to coach receivers? Is (Shawn) Watson still going to be the offensive coordinator? All that kind of stuff.
I just wanted to see what the official visit process was like with everything going on at Texas, son said. I wanted to make sure that if something happens, I have a place to have my options open, so I can fall back on.
Im just waiting on my parents and talking to them about deciding on signing it (financial papers for UT), son said. We just want to see how everything plays out. Its just a day-by-day process.
