What a gutty performance by George Mason! Man, those guys played their guts out for 45 minutes and got the win that they deserved. Props to the little guy for getting over.

Yeah, though it seemed like UConn wasn't getting any calls. Then again, if you have five legit NBA players and you lose to a CAA team that got an at-large berth, blaming the officiating isn't going to help your cause.

The same five guys for George Mason were on the court since there were eleven minutes left in the second half. Damn.

I thought, unlike the Washington game, where UConn was kept in the game by horrendous officiating, the UConn/Mason game was called evenly. Contact on one end was a called the same as contact on the other end. It would have been easy for those officials to give the Huskies the star treatment, but they didn't. I'd dispute that UConn got the short end of any call, and I certainly don't think that they were treated any better or worse than George Mason. Mason earned that victory, no matter how much Calhoun chooses to whine about the officials.

It's a major league disservice (and terribly disrespectful, I think) to George Mason's effort to say that officiating had anything to do with the outcome.

I'd like to say it was keen analysis, but it was just wishful hoping

I'll agree that the officials called a better game this afternoon then the crew at the U-Dub game did, but I wouldn't call the officiating even by any stretch of the imagination. I'll admit that I may have a flawed view on matters considering that UConn had to foul at the end of both the second half and OT for possession. But the refs didn't give the game to one team over the other like the Friday night game you mentioned. Iffy calls just seemed lopsided in GM's favor from my couch.

But that's irrelevant. George Mason winning is the best thing to happen to college basketball since Villanova beat Georgetown.
