Draft a QB early next year, all in it to win it this coming year.
Trade down 5-8 spots to get the extra 2nd rounder... draft 3 out of 4 of: WR, 1 tech DT, SS and RB in the first 2 rounds. Fill the 4th hole in free agency. There you have it. Maybe go after the 4th hole or a project QB in the 3rd or 4th rounder, or in the 3rd round we can go CB or even BPA. We have a lot of good options.
The worst option, though, is to waste our premium pick on a guy like Goff or Lynch whose ceiling is the next Tannehill or Bradford.
The second worst option is to let Hardy go and spend our premium draft pick on Joey Bosa, which won't allow us to fill enough holes.
The third worst option is to let McClain go and spend our premium draft pick on Myles Jack... this is similar to the second option.
The fourth worst option is to stunt Terrance Mitc 's growth by drafting an overrated DB like Hargreaves or Ramsey with our premium pick.
I'm not even counting drafting OL as an option because that would be downright re ed.
We must re-sign Hardy, McClain, Dunbar and a few other guys and commit to Terrance Mitc . I think he can be a legit #2 CB for a long time... he makes a lot of plays, has a knack for ball-hawking, and is excellent in coverage against #2 and #3 receivers. He's locked with us for cheap for the next 2 years, but I think it might be wise to lock him up with a 6 year/18 million deal, maybe a little less but either way it's a steal considering his talent versus the exorbitant price it will take to retain him once he breaks out next year.
We MUST shore up 1 tech DT (Hayden is a sissy), 2nd WR, strong safety, and 2nd/young running back. These are the priorities, as well as continuing to develop Mitc . I think Jerry has a lot of options this offseason for bringing in a young backup QB for cheap with significant upside in free agency, so I don't think we'll need to draft one this year.
