    Who cares?

Blacks act like the most victimized people on earth.
maybe we can give them an Oscar for that.

This is Jamie's fault tbh. Winning an Oscar for Ray and following that up with the bull he's put out, that's criminal.

Well maybe AMPAS needs to "update" their memberships. I read in Gregory Peck's autobiography that when he was the pres of AMPAS in the 50's or 60's, he cleaned out the membership rolls and jettisoned members who had been around since the 20's and weren't active in their fields anymore. Freed up thousands of memberships for new blood.

I find it hilarious that Jada Pinkett Smith is boycotting the Oscars. She has no business being there anyway, that's like Jeff Ayres saying he is boycotting the All-Star Game.

"I never used to go anyway," he said. "You can't boycott something that you never used to go to anyway."

"I look at it like a horse race. Once your horse loses the race, you tear up your ticket and back on out," he said of the Oscar nominations.

"We don't do movies for the industry. We do movies for the fans, for the people. And the industry, you know, if they give you a trophy or not or pat you on the back or not, it's nice but its not something that you should dwell on," he said. "We got accolades from all levels, from our core fans to our curious fans, from people who didn't even think they wanted to see that movie. I think an older generation got an understanding on why we did that kind of music and the younger generation got a history lesson, and we got so much praise for the movie."
He added, "How could you be mad because one other academy or guild or whatever didn't say [we're] No. 1 … It's crying about not having enough icing on your cake."

He lacks a core understanding of whats going on....he's basking in the glow of SOC but has no perspective of the greater context....I hope. Chis Rock not only MC's the event but turn it into a spectacle..we need to get those old white men out of the judging and criteria booths they only have old white men perspectives and it needs to stop.....Kudos to e and Jada for leading the way..they are SPOT ON!!!!!!

And if as Ice Cube says the movies are for the fans and not the industry then why aren't fan representatives voting who get the nominations... dude totally misses the point of e and Jada's point....

Cubes response is a major fail and makes him look bad and extremely uneducated...he doesn't understand the basic premise of the Boston Tea Party..... Taxation without Representation....that's what this is all about....its basic and its sad he doesn't understand it....time to get old man whitey exclusivity from behind the judging curtains and have equal representatives from all communities and make selections vis-a-vis an open transparent voting process.

People like Reck is an intellectual light weight compared to Kool

    You are wrong.

Ice Cube is more influential than both e Lee () and Jada Pinkett Smith () combined.

Just look at what each of them have done to better the world. (In an entertaining way) And you will see Cube comes out ahead in all categories.

Jada ain't got a thing to be mad about. She's just upset her hubby didn't get . She's mad for him. And that's that.

Tell the talented actors to stop making and coasting. When Denzel, Freeman, Foxx, Cheadle, and Ojiofor were taking on challenging roles they were getting nominated.

Only two or three were honest to goodness snubs.

Just as many or more non-blacks miss out every year who are just as deserving.

I thought Gyllenhaal for Nightcrawler was last year's biggest snub.
I think Tom Hardy for The Revanent is this year's biggest snub.

And I've seen Creed, Concussion, Straight Outta Compton, Selma...

As for Idris Elba, name me the last non-cinema film that was nominated for an Oscar? His nomination was done wrong by the medium, and, specifically, the first-to-streaming offering of Beasts Of No Nation.

Will Smith being nominated would have felt token. It wasn't that strong a role.

If Foxx or Ojiofor wanted to, I'd bet they could get nominated every year the way Denzel or Freeman used to. But each is cashing in and, specifically, Foxx hasn't had a challenging role in a decade.

more deserving by who's standards? You clowns never cease to amaze me....your response reminds me of all the white baseball player records prior to the Negroes infiltrating the league... if your standard is exclusivity silo's then by all accounts be my guest but we are going to demand a seat at the table and kick the old white prejudice ers out of the voting booths tbh

Now that I got anally Reck *aka* baby DMC on the run let me dig in further..we should not be questioning the protestors and boycotters...but rather the old racist white men who been in those positions since Cosby first started administering qualuudes and now refuse to step down....

Will Smith is hands down the BEST actor in Hollywood and has been for dam near 15 yrs. He nailed it when he said:

Smith said that both times he had previously been nominated for an Oscar, he had "never lost to a white person."

"When I see this list and series of nominations that come out — and everybody is fantastic and that's the complexity of this issue, everyone is beautiful and deserving and it's fantastic — but it feels like it's going the wrong direction," he said.
