Smith hasn't signed his LOI yet, but I think he's announcing late for some reason.
He cancelled his last in-home visit with Texas coaches last week. Think he's a Bama lock. Unless there's something idk about.

Irvin Smith is scheduled to announce today at 3:15pm. Rumor is that Alabama doesn't have room for him and has asked him to grey shirt. In response to being asked about this, Nahlin said, "smith is in play and I'll leave it at that."

That's super awkward since Smith didn't give Charlie a chance to have an in-home.
But we'll take it. Dude is a stud.
Could be.
He didn't say it was recruiting related.
They don't plan to do it until after you sign.
Now...
Out of all these recruits who are most likely starters?
And, will any of these guys impact the W-L's.
Charlie can't have another last year.
...come on man. Can't we just enjoy today for now? There's plenty of time to try to fire Strong again. ...at least wait until the spring game.
On offense it's got to be Collin Johnson and Shane Buschele.
On Defense it would be Eric Fowler, Brandon Jones, and DCG.
Ton of these guys are going to get lots of playing time.
Can't be mad at the kid or Texas, anyone with half a brain saw the Fowler flip coming a mile away. Major fail on LSU's part not having a proper backup plan or even bothering to offer instate guys like De'jion Harris or Malcom Roach who could potentially play MLB. Miles is a great recruiter, but this is the 4th or 5th year in a row we have flat out whiffed on one of our most crucial positions of need.
Dontavious Jackson was the only legit MLB prospect who actually left the state. LSU should have been on him like stink on instead of playing footsie with a kid who can hit UT with a rock from his backyard.

I see Aggy got pimp-slapped by daddeh as usual. All is right with the world.

Higs said Texas could be close to adding a 2017 kid.
TFloss! 2017 thread hurry!!! Just kidding.
I honestly cannot see too many starters from this group for game 1 except Jones and possibly one of these incoming OL. Now as far as major PT, there is going to be quite a few guys from this class, but I see this group providing that depth which was sorely needed.
Also, thanks to floss and the rest of you guys for providing all the info. Looking forward to 2017..
Strong is obviously a great recruiter. I want him to stay. So I'm wondering what it will take to extend him. Imagine getting kids in the top 10 of the entire country again. I think we all want more days like today in the future.
Slow your roll.
He is a witch of a recruiter and he runs a good program, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. So far he sucks at picking a staff and he also hasn't proven he can win jack at Texas. Win some games and then we talk about extensions.
So is Texas done with their recruiting? I was hoping for at least 2 CBs and 2 TEs.
Unfortunately we only got 1 of each. This was a very good haul this year. To get 15 of 19 recruits from that one weekend is just insane.
I really wanted Mark Jackson, but he would have been an embarrassment of riches at that position. And, oddly enough, I am more accepting of him at OU than A&M. I can live with losing a recruit like Jackson to OU, cause of their national status as a program.....but it would have pissed me off if he chose A&M over UT. I feel the same about Irv Smith and the DT who ended up at South Carolina.
The two that truly bother me are losing out to Baylor and Ole Miss. Both programs are shady as . I am disappointed that Hudson chose that sham Art Briles over Strong. I am also upset about losing DA to Ole Miss, even though we still have 2 safeties in this class.
