A RB at #4? Good job Jerry.
But I guess that's what happens when you let the Eagles trade up ahead of you to take the QB you wanted.
that's irrelevant.. rams got a stud rb and yet regressed massively from the year before.

What's irrelevant is talking the Rams in a Cowboys thread.
Damn. A day late millions of dollars short.
Uhh Lee had his knee scoped yesterday
Can someone make sense of the Dallas draft strategy after the first round??
Conventional wisdom had Luck_The_Fakers and Bosa as the top picks for the Cowboys. With Bosa gone, why would you want credit for predicting the most obvious choice?
I guess if Jaylon Smith turns out to be an all-pro, we'll forget about it, but drafting for the future when all the signs pointed to being in win-now mode puzzles me a bit as well. Having a backup quarterback at least gives them a chance not to the season away when Romo gets hurt again.
Agreed. Nine-minute drives at the end of games will take a lot of pressure off their poor defense.
I don't think Zeke is a spectacular runner along the lines of Adrian Peterson or someone like that. His calling card is his versatility. He can catch, he is a willing and able blocker- he'll never have to leave the field. He's a rich man's Matt Forte.
If that is true, that is a damn good pick. AP makes lines and offenses. But if you give a young, more talented Forte a league best line and solid passing game? That is going to be a straight up nightmare offense if true.
DeMarco Murray haunts them.
****** is supposed to supply this and more. I think he does except for the power aspect. And he is a rookie. Cowboy fan expects instant impact. 4 games with a week D and a rookie with weight on his shoulders... It's possible they will be off to a less than stellar start. This will allow for the team idiots Jerry has coveted to come to the forefront. I kinda like the possibility of Dez yelling at ******, and anyone else who is vulnerable, early in the year. Jerrah too... gotta have the drama for the traveling circus.
Agreed. It doesn't make much sense in light of everything they've said about Tony's window closing. Maybe Jerry is trying to set them up for one more bad year and another high draft pick.
If Romo (huge IF) and Dez are healthy, I don't see how Dallas isn't a playoff team.
Elliott is a fantastic runner and at 6-1 225 pounds the total package, kid can catch the bal, and will stick his nose in there to block. We will see an instant and dramatic impact made by this kid.
Great move by the Cowboys who do their best work when they have a stud RB.
How could anyone who knows the game not see what is going on there? Big, fast, powerful and elusive, what more is there?
Emmitt Smith also only played three seasons of college ball.

Avante is right this kid is oozing special. Cowboys hands were tied; they had to take him. They didn't want another Randy Moss incident.
In thinking about it more, the Cowboys were the perfect fit. Normally, it sucks taking RB's high in the draft. Short careers, risks and big money. However, most teams that are in that spot have so many holes, the RB fizzles out and the risk is greater because the team needs so much.
The Cowboys were artificially this bad. Romo hurt. Dez hurt. Cowboys have the best oline in the league probably so that puts them in a spot to maximize the impact of a RB immediately which is a huge part of making a young back successful.
Matt Forte >>>> Adrian Peterson
