The Mavs didn't even get out of the first round. They would have been swept had Golden State not played so wreckless (they should have won Game 2 and especially Game 5). No way are the Spurs worse.
Pop is the only coach in the NBA who has the leeway to "stay the course" in a storm. Every other coach will make quick-fire adjustments to try to stop the bleeding. Pop thinks his plan is golden if they execute it properly. That 1st game when upstairs was calling it early, when LMA went off from long 2, there's been no real adjustment since by SA but OKC has closed out on LMA and for some reason LMA isn't even shooting the long 2 any more, choosing instead to put the ball on the floor and attack the basket.
Pop cornered when there's no one to intentionally foul.

Duncan falling off the cliff has a lot to do with how the Spurs are struggling since the break.
The rim protection that allowed the Spurs to be the #1 defense, and the perimeter players to close in on their men is gone. The rebounding hasn't been great, so even if the Spurs forced a missed shot, there is a good chance the opposition will get a 2nd, 3rd, 4th .... chance.
It actually does. He refuses to play and incorporate young guys throughout the season in favor of those old guys, including west. Im not saying they shouldn't play, but relying on them so heavily at this point in their careers is sad. He's as much GM as RC and they continue to bring in old guys, while letting young guys ride the pine. He only uses the young guys to eat up minutes in the regular season to rest the others. He has such a short leash that come playoff time, they play timid for fear of making a minor mistake and getting yanked. It's been his MO for way to long.
What great players is Donovan playing besides KD and WB? He's just playing young guys that are flying around to the rebounds and loose balls all over the court. They've played all season and are comfortable out there. Pop is still relying on old guys with "corporate knowledge" that are even older now.
