Yep, Spain in second place is probably a good call. Getting past the quarters of a WC just once in history is embarrassing for a suppossed big football nation.

Although their club success is second to none (and by a wide margin) in Europe, tbh.

I don't see Spain as overrated tbh... everybody is seeing they had an amazing generation that now is done and they will probably come back to their old self (marginal) for a while before a new one pop up. On that, Spain is quite similar to France except France had 3 generations, an early one (kopa, fontaine) but with no major les, the 80's with Platoch and the 00s with Zidane, Spain had really only one so far.

I agree regarding England, it is overrated mainly in Europe. In France they continue to put them on teams to watch or dark horse .

Colombia is a good one tbh

In historical context I stand by England tho and as of today I don't think Argentina is overrated even though I understand why you could have this pov but for me when you have the best player in the world by a mile difficult to not consider them as a force

In terms of clubs - Italy, Serie A.

International wise - Everyone knows England are , so I don't see how they qualify as overrated. Argentina in the Missi era are my pick.

How can Mexico be overrated by anyone anyhow? They've always been considered a 2nd Tier Team... I'd say ranked anywhere from 10-20 at any given point during the past 3 decades... They've made it to the round of 16 at every world cup Since 1986 (not counting the 1990 World Cup where the NT was disqualified from participating due to unsanctioned misgivings in the U19 ranks - robbing Mexico's greatest player EVER a chance to play during the zenith of his career [Hugo Sanchez]).

"Sure", people say "they always qualify from a less difficult confederation" - but the fact of the matter is when they match up against the rest of the world at the world's largest stage - they at least prove their 2nd Tier mettle... They could have advanced higher in some of those tournaments but fate always pit them against their daddy (Argentina) who has knocked them out in 2 of the last 3 world cup tournaments.

I would agree also about Argentina in the era they have Messi. He's arguably one of a kind talent, Argentina is constantly rated top 3 in FIFA rankings, the team has had some quite good coaches, they had huge success at younger cotegories (which always translates in success later), yet wasn't able to win a Copa América, much less a WC.

That being said, being #2 at the 2014 WC in Brazil was a strong showing and the team could still win something with Messi in his prime.

    Most overrated
: England...serial overyphed under-performers..they are not even close-but-no-cigar NT team (that would be Holland), they never even get there..QF/R16 fodder...they even cheated their way to their last and only big le 50 years ago ...

    Most Underrated
: Italy..4 WCs/2 finals 1 Euro/2 finals while barely fielding any transcendent talent (they didn't win in the Maldini and Baggio era) ...Azzuri are always a pain in the ass to get through because of elite defense and overall superior tactical discipline..you look at majority of Italy's failures before 2010, they either suc b in Extra Time OR penalties..

Argentina hasn't had a good defense in ages, and that always been the weak spot. That's actually something that changed in the 14 WC, and why they got far, but I still don't see a generation of good defenders there.

They aren't a team like the late 90's, early 2000 Brazil that could score 4 goals and get away with overrated defenders.

Argentina needs to have blocks of players sharing the same clubs so s don't have to see each other only 5/6 times a year. Germany has Bayern and Dortmund, Spain had Barcelona and RM, Italy had Juventus.
