He could have played for Spain ? this was a discussion back in the days ?
Yes indeed. The reason why they rushed him to debut with the NT was exactly about that.

It was a HUGE debate around the same time he started playing in the main Barca team...

The same guy who signed him in Barcelona (Carles Rexach) urged the Spanish federation to call him but when they made the decision it was late. Argie federation set up a friendly match against Paraguay u-20 so they could play Messi.

Messi would alredy have 2 Euros and 1 WC. Would have probably won in 2010 too, and might have even rang on 2006.

Of course since he would have played with his bosses Xavi and Iniesta.

It was the same exact scenario in South Africa 2010! Uruguay won the group barely edging out México in a highly contested game (1 - 0) and forced an Argentina v. Mexico match.

What will be funny now is if Mexico wins their group and Argentina doesn't... still pitting them against each other.

I kind of want Argentina, tbh. We were up 2-0 last year until our B-Team came in and ruined everything. Also, Moises Muñoz

Uruguay will be missing Suarez but they'll still be good. Jamaica recently beat Chile with almost all of their starters. It's the toughest group of the tournament but I think we can win our group.

Who would be your starting XI?

    Mine would be...
Ochoa; Layun, Reyes, Moreno, Aguilar; Guardado, Marquez, Herrera; Lozano, Hernandez, Corona

I didn't know that Ganso had that meaning in spanish . In Brazil it's just a bird.

As a portuguese slang, it's the name they give to snitches in prison aka D'Angelo Russell.
