Unless you're trading LMA or Kawhi you'll get more 2 man ISO ball regardless of any other realistic signings.
Holy Chinook, the Spurs aren't going to dish out MLE money or anything close to that for a 3rd string center. He's useless in every imaginable way except for eating up minutes in garbage time.

You think the Spurs would seriously consider replacing TD with a slow AF 7' 3" center who can't rebound or protect the rim to save his life? Is this forum getting dumber by the second because it sure feels that way.
Agreed, less mobility than other 7´3¨ guys like Mozgov or Porzingis also he is turnover prone.
If TD decides to retire, the Spurs are left with West, Diaw, and Boban as the centers since LMA dosn't want to play there. Best to keep someone with size, even if used as a backup when we try to find and sign a future HOF in the draft, as a FA or via trade. [sacrcasm /].
We've had a lot of players over the years collecting 1.5 million for riding the pine with even less bb skills or upside. I might rather have Ndoye if he does well in SL.
Seems like 2010 offseason redux when the biggest move was giving Jefferson a 40 mill extension after the Spurs got swept by the Suns.(Maybe Kawhi will get to run the offense instead of Porker ala 2010-11 Manu)
Right, no Bird rights. I guess what I was saying was they can use his QO to go try to make a big splash, and if they strike out can use cap space to resign him. Similar to CoJo last year, except they did have his Bird rights but instead of moving Mills they renounced him.
Actually, the cap is on both teams' ledgers. The Spurs would have to account for the team as soon as he signs a QO.
Hope the Spurs and Boban come to an agreement and wait, just like they did with Kawhi and Green. Spurs need a lot of new pieces... If they stand pat, expect another second round exit.
The summer after 6 happened, Spurs had quite a bit of cap and they wasted it on Splitter and Manu extensions.
His cap hold is not significant because of his previous wage and he is capped at signing for the MLE because of the Arenas rule. You like being wrong every offseason; why make this one any different?
Not true
Does significant playing time for Boban mean?
Seemed to work out just fine tbh lol
Yes it did. It was also a team that was seconds away from winning a le.
This team has 2 mummies in Manu and Timmy, a declining PG, and a terrible bench. Same team that got outed in the second round tbh. Changes must be made
Team won 67 games with a HUGE new piece trying to find his place. Took a "great" team in OKC to 6 games and arguably could've won the series if officials did their job in two games. We don't know how this team would've done to GSW.
Of course we need changes..but it's not like they need to blow it up like some on this forum think
Exactly, Spurs can be right there again if they inject quality athleticism and youth around Kawhi, Aldridge, Green nucleus. I really hope West, Diaw, Mills are gone. They need upgrades at those spots. And whatever Tim and Manu want to do -- I'm all for it, but I'd like to see at-least West, Diaw and Mills replaced in the rotation. Same goes for Bonner, Martin, Miller.
No bench big can guard Boban. He and Simmons can potentially be a good scoring combo off the bench.
Spurs never had much flexibility to make big moves. All the good FA's are restricted anyways and the Spurs never go for restricted FA's.
I expect it'll be a pretty boring offseason. Re-sign Boban, sign Bertans, sign a budget wing and big, and cut/retain Diaw depending on if they need the cap space. If Duncan and Ginobili retire, the Spurs might make some more "exciting" signings like Gasol.
West will hopefully be gone unless he just opts in..I mean $$ doesn't matter to him lol. I think Diaw stays unless they hit big on a MAX guy. Hopefully he gets in shape and comes back determined.. Mills at 3.3M is just too good of value to just get rid of him..
You sound like those people who said George Hill at 1.3 mil in his last year was too good of value to trade. Truth is, if Spurs don't see themselves re-signing Mills after next year (which is the reality tbh..) , its better to trade him now and get value back than just let him go for nothing next summer.
It was like the situation with Hill before he got traded. Spurs had invested in Parker and it made no sense to allocate another 8 million at the back up PG spot -- so they shopped Hill during the draft the summer before he became a free agent.
They need to do the same with Mills or at-least try and I'm sure they are trying because Spurs aren't happy with his development. Spurs need a play-maker off the bench with Manu retiring or regressing more -- Mills isn't that guy and there's hardly any SG playmakers in the NBA, much less within Spurs' budget on the FA market.

But again it all determines what you're replacing him with player and at what price? Just saying Mills is a bargain at 3.3M and I'm sure he can be moved in a trade.
The issue with moving Mills is for who? Last season was the perfect time to move a PG bc we had 3, and 2 of them very young and Cojo still had upside at just 23 last season, yet they didn't bc they liked Joseph enough to want to keep him apparently if their big FA signing didn't come through. That's my reasoning.
Then Diaw. came out stating they want to keep him. Boban wants to stay.
It will be interesting which way it goes bc I think it will depend on Timmy and Manu how drastic or conservative they go, in large part bc of the cap, but also bc the roster spots available and needs.
I used to think they were ready to be more drastic in remaking the roster but now I see them just retooling and adding moderate role players plus some younger prospects they had their eye on anyways.
All the spurs need is another PG...doesn't have to be top notch but decent pg that can move the ball.....+ another shooter...again not top notch but can get the job done...Spurs will be fine.....
i wonder if Boban can approach Yao Ming?
