I was rooting for Portland to sign him so we could scoop up their "leavins".
Meh, isn't really going to change much. You just can't stay big against the Warriors.

Tbh we won it all with a 37 year old timmy. At least there is some hope.
According to this thread no
I imagine it will technically be a sign and trade with Chicago so the Spurs can acquire Bird Rights. I think the same will happen with Durant, because otherwise Golden State will have to shed salary next summer to re-sign Durant. It should happen, even Cleveland did the sign and trade with Miami so the Heat could acquire LeBron's Bird Rights in 2010 (and vice versa in 2014).
Actually, you are right.![]()
Who knows? They might fit into exceptions as first round picks... or something. I don't know cap issues. Both will be on the dleague a lot anyways. They won't be seen that much this season.
Gasol is an upgrade over Duncan, no doubt, he isn't much worse on D and is definitely better on offense, but the rest of the roster is gong to be virtually the same(may even be worse if they lose Diaw or Mills)..
They'll probably be the same team as last season, while the Warriors improved..
"To qualify as a Bird free agent, a player must have played three seasons without being waived or changing teams as a free agent."
Don't really like this move. Eats up cap space next year and doesn't do anything to help the Spurs beat the Warriors. Gasol will spend most of his time on the bench against the Warriors.

For the Spurs to complete the Gasol signing, they're working on a trade to move Boris Diaw, league sources tell @TheVertical.

Idk. Maybe Kyle plays better this seaaon. Maybe murray is the roty. Who knows tbh
According to Woj, Spurs are working on a trade of Boris to complete the Gasol signing.
Tbh Boris had this coming. er just isn't serious about basketball.
What move should they have made to counter Durant?
Thanks for the clarification guys.
Disagree, with Bogut and Ezeli gone, Spurs will have a golden opportunity to exploit them with rebounding and size, like OKC did this year. We arent going to outscore a team with the shooters they have. This is our best shot.
Keep the cap space and swing for the fences in the next FA where they will have max money available.
Getting Gasol just pads the Spurs lead against the other WC teams while doing nothing to improve the Spurs against the Warriors.
With Boris gone does this mean 1 more year of Timmy?
We are one turned ankle from surpassing the Warriors as the favorites to win it all and you are going to complain? Who knows, maybe we improve enough to overtake them especially if Durant doesnt mesh well
Not a big fan of this move initially, but I'll reserve judgment until I see how PATFO manage to fill out the rest of the roster.
I think Tim is done, Pau signing with us seals that
