It's disheartening to see this happen with teams like the Warriors, Cavs and Heat (from 3-5 years ago). I get the quest for the ring, bu this makes the NBA even more of a circus and a joke. Though some could claim the Spurs did this last year with West....just not to the extent of the other teams mentioned above.
On the flip side I do envy the Warriors swiftness and plan. To secure ZaZa and West that quickly after getting a commitment from Durant shows they had/have a plan and move on it. Certainly easier to do when you sign a Durant, but wish the Spurs would move a little quicker and get some guys inked before they are all gone. Can't help think there are solid vets (young and old) who would play for the vet minimum for an opportunity to play with the Spurs. Our roster as it sits, is a distant 2nd/3rd in the West.
Here's hoping the Spurs have a plan. Gasol is a good start, but we need much more.

Nice player in the regular season, but he was beyond terrible against the Thunder. He had the lowest net rating out of everyone on the team.
I'll always like D. West for opting out and playing for tge Spurs. He was a solid contributer during the season. He got stuck on McDyess island in the playoffs. Good pick up for GSW.

None but they need so much the trophy that they dont care, psychological mumbo jumbo ... trying to convince themselves they are winners (skipping real facts) those are KD/DWEST and whoever jumps to that ship.
The trophy itself is meaningless. It's what it's symbolic of, which is all the hard work and adversity that had to be overcome not just throughout the season, but since they first started playing the game, to achieve it. Absent that, it has no real value.
West is basically a ring chaser.....No disrespect but West is washed up....
He'll be the only likeable player on that team.
