Spurs would have to sell him on being able to get minutes behind LMA and showcase his talent for a bigger payday next summer

man, I still want Jones but it would take a miracle to get him.

    Aldridge/Jones
    Gasol/Dedmon

Spurs could trade Mills to open some cap room for Jones, could they?

While I think Scola would be cool, after some thought I don't think I want him after all. He could be a fine 12th man, but ...

I just don't trust Pop to keep him on the bench if the matchups will get him killed on defense. Sad, but true.

For the min, you can do a lot worse than a savvy vet like Scola who would already have chemistry with Manu.

I'd take him as long as Pop has realistic expectations for his usage as objective mentions above...

Spurs, are loaded with too many noobs!

Simmons, Dedmon, Murray, Bertans, Jean-Charles, Forbes. You got folks like Manu, Pau, Parker and Aldridge that will sit out games because of old age.

The only players that will be consistently available will be Leonard, Green and Anderson. Anderson was considered a noob last year and he's the only one out of that 3 that can actually pass!!!

Spurs not getting much from Mills nowadays and T Jones is very good backup PF with upside potential.
LJC is waste of rosters spot and Bertans is unproven. Spurs have more need for back up PF. Spurs may be able to replace Mills with Forbes

That last roster spot ... I don't know if the Spurs are willing to carry yet another small in Forbes when the bigs are so limited. With Dedmon more of a 5, and only bulky Anderson at backup 4 ... Kawhi and Bertans as small ball pfs? LJC I have a hard time taking seriously as a possibility.

Things would get very, very rough with an injury to either starter.
I've been saying the same thing.

I'm thinking it'll be Scola or Bonner, but I'm leaning the former. Bonner would be mostly redundant with Bertans and they need someone who can spot start if Aldridge gets injured. Plus, Scola would make for a better fourth/emergency center because he's a superior rebounder.

Sure, he's old, athletically deficient and was terrible in the playoffs, but the Raptors were asking too much of him. As a fringe rotation player, who'd mostly be around for insurance, he'd be fine. Teams didn't guard him from 3, but he shot 40.4%, with 65 makes and Dedmon is the type that can protect him defensively.

Larry sanders? Should patfo kick the tires on him . A headcase but you cant deny his talents. Rim protector and rebounder. Low risk high reward if signed at vet minimum. If he acts up during the season then cut him and move on.

The pot is not to blame for larry being a head case. Thats on him. Plenty of productive pot heads in our society. Ive practiced law for 15 years. Never affected my ability to perform my job, but i dont roll into court stoned either.

Maybe larry just cant balance the two. I imagine he likes that white lady and thats been his real issue. Cocaine is a uva drug
