Marco is a good reg season player which the Spurs need when Green/Leonard/Ginobili get their month long annual injuries
Neal last year was forced into the PG spot since Joseph/Mills/De Colo weren't good enough to play it
now that Mills is the backup PG it moves everyone into more natural positions

Spurs have 3 2 guards in Green/Manu/Marco and the fisrt 2 will play all the minutes so it forces him out of the rotation
he could still play if they slot him at the 2 and Manu at the 3 with Diaw/Splitter frontline
but Pop is playing Leonard 40ish minutes so he gets the backup 3 spot

I think Marco can still improve
something just happened to him near the end of the reg season where he just looked shook after every game and hasn't recovered

Bonner doesn't have a low ball IQ, he just has the same athletic capabilities of John Goodman.
He actually has a higher vert than Kawhi and Green, only Ayers and Joseph are more athletic. Ironically all 3 are 3rd stringers.

During a game against the San Antonio Spurs last season, Neal openly complained about Gregg Popovich, who got rid of Neal after three seasons, on the bench during an actual game. Neal also has been known to recite his statistics and what he shoots from certain spots on the floor better than others who, in his words, weren’t as good as him and making more money.

That was such a wonderful series in 2014 for the Spurs against Miami. Not sure that can ever be duplicated.......Everyone just pulled together and played to their maximum.

I'm gonna watch those games this weekend when I get home. Great memories of the Spurs at the absolute peak efficiency.

PS. Don't miss malcontents. Neal went the Steve Jackson route unfortunately.

Neal makes me miss 2013 all over again. When he and Green buried the heat under an avalanche of 3's was a thing of beauty.

I do but am curious what brought this thread back? Patty's emergence mitigated the loss initially but ever since 5, Patty hasn't been the same. He tries but his shot hasn't been the same since the shoulder injury and while he hustles on defense he is far from a good defender. A not on fire Patty is only good to buy your starter minutes on the bench, nothing more. Gary could go NOVA from time to time this team needs that. Especially since we can't count on that from Verde since we rely on him for defense so much now.

Choochoo. That rapist was ok the first year he was here then he just turned into a pile of . He couldn't dribble a ball to save his life and I don't miss the days where he'd pass half court then pick up his dribble. Terrible teammate, terrible player, a streaky chucker with an ego that would make Kirby jealous... him.

Then games 6 and 7 happened and all those threes from them stopped falling I don't miss that one bit, the next year was a littttttle better in the end. I don't want to relive that 2013 finals though, especially the last two games.
Mike Miller with no shoe misses him, tbh.
Don't remind me, the nightmare last few games summed up....
