I bet Jordan respects Tim saying that than he does Kobe and Lebron for their kowtowing to him.

GSH I am sorry don't know Van Vleet. I think what you describe in him is what they were looking for in Arci. While solid Arci doesn't wow and it was tough for anyone not already signed in this summer league team to shine anyways bc I think the Spurs were really interested in seeing the guys in the rotation to see if they improved first. On top of that this summer team coincided with rookies like Bertans and Murray who are very talented, so it was going to be tough for any roleplayer to even do much, and Arci was solid but just OK in comparison.

I just want to clarify that my statement wasn't a jab at Patty but I thought last season Pop was starting to turn the bench to him. He was very high usage, sometimes took triple the shots as anyone else not named Manu in the bench. His defensive deficiencies are well noted. They are not a lack of effort or hustle. There's just not much more he can do with his size and physical tools. He's clearly a tiny shooting guard and one that doesn't slash. I suppose if the Spurs keep a SG as a playmaker as a trend like Murray or Simmons off the bench it could work, but in no way should the Spurs overpay for Mills next off-season when he requires a specific roster and players next to him to shine and he has the skill set easiest to replace among all his teammates.

As for Smart , I like your idea.I think the problem is that Ainge has proven to be such a greedy motherf*cker that he thinks he has all the leverage in his trades and unless we give up an arm and a leg, he won't send Smart here. He won't take Patty for example. He's going to want a pick, Bertans and Anderson. Bertans bc they need shooters, a forward like Bertans who can shoot would be enticing but not sufficient bc he's unproven with a questionable medical history. He'll want Anderson too bc with the loss of Evan Turner they need playmakers and Anderson all of a sudden shooting that 3 was also interesting. So he won't be happy with just the one prospect. Then on top of that he will want a pick. It will be sufficient for RC to send him to bell. Lol anyways that's how I picture those trade conversations going.

I agree with you about what Smart brings to the table. I just think Ainge has grossly misplayed/overplayed his hand UNLESS he can pull off a deal for somebody like Westbrook. He has two teams' worth of complementary players and one teams' worth of slots to fill. He needs to make some advantageous trades to deal more than one player for one in return, or he will have to cut some of those complementary pieces if he can't find any trade partners. Bonner for Smart is a no-brainier for everybody not named Popovich.
Good accurate description of Ainges situation. I think at this point other teams don't want to help him in that quest either bc be will get greedy and not give up enough for a star or an established player. Those were the rumors anyways.

At this point it would be foolhardy for any FO to bail him out before training camp cut deadlines.

Forbes ain't replacing Patty you stupid .

You figure it out before spewing uneducated .
Maybe not but the Spurs aren't going to pay Patty Mills. He's going to be offered a contract like all of our other role players and the Spurs are going to let him go.

Next year the draft is loaded with top notch PGs, 5 projected in the top ten on NBAdraft.net. There are several top PG that are free agents. Several teams are deep with 2 or 3 PGs as good or better than Mills. If things work out as hoped Murray will be starting PG and, like it or not, Parker will be the backup. Somebody cheap will be third PG

Not sure they will or won't but I expect his floor to be 4 years $50 million. It depends on how confident Murray will be ready to contribute after next season, if they think he is still a year away then maybe the Spurs bring Mills back because they have his cap hold and bird rights and he may be willing to take a discount to stay.

I think that's a high floor for Patty even with a cap increase. Regardless I don't think they offer what another team will offer. He's not good enough to be investing a significant amount of money in.

Patty has been kind of dissapointing post 2014. We'll see what happens in his contract year, but if the moneys not right I could see the FO letting him go and moving on.

Almost certainly Patty's last season as a Spur unless they give up on winning.

Forbes would have to flat out suck or get a bigger contract offer than mills. Really only if we win big does mills have a chance. He's destiny bonded with Manu and I don't know if he wants to be third banana in a Kyle, Simmons, Bertrans bench unit.

Maybe you can say the spurs wouldn't want to lose Simmons and Patty at once and will pick one. At that point it becomes a question of depth.

With Parker, Murray, and a likely free agent our trade acquisition for a pg mills has no role here.

Wonder if this tweet is accurate, or if the meaning got messed up in the translation (seems like a non-English speaker). Most people were predicting $1.5 million would be the yearly amount, not $1.5 million over both years.
