Excuses, any USA team of any era should beat a couple of Argies, they lost twice and 2004 was far away from 9/11, Marion Iverson Wade Lebron Amare Duncan Jefferson Carmelo thats enough to monkeyball any ty NT and make them eat crap.

Isn't tomorrow the deadline for the Spurs to fully guarantee Simmons? Might see him let go.
Dude balled hard in this game. I liked what I saw... good looking outside shot, nice catch and release, can finish, good spacing, showed some active defense, good hands, lot of made FTs, playing with some fire and emotion. Only 23, 6'10 wingspan![]()
I can't see that happening. It just wouldn't make sense after how he played in Summer League unless Spurs are trying to shop him. Only issue is you can't get a great player back in return for his current price tag unless he is part of a bigger trade. In this cap era, keeping Simmons is a steal based on potential alone for one more year and knowing Spurs' system.
His shooting is so slow and is even slower than Bonner
Butthurted Bonner fan confirmed.
I think shooting is a plus, but defensive skillset is what will get him on the team. Can't compare that with Bonner since Bonner has no lateral anything lol. Also depends on his counterparts like Livio and how he/they perform to see if Garino is a need/want on final roster.
I swear this runs like Matt Bonner, sloped shoulders & all
Manu hasn't propped up dude yet on his twitter account.
He's ing trash, just like any other player that has come out of Argentina
I'm sure Manu's input must have come from this scouting decision. I trust Manu and I trust management. Can't wait for preseason!![]()
I definitely agree that the team needs another perimeter defender. Simmons has been lacking and Manu can't. RS numbers are kind to Manu defensively but as we saw in the playoffs Manu just can't at this point. Dion Waiters ate him alive. Dion Waiters, ok!!!!! I think Simmons would have been fouling like crazy in the playoffs though or just simply getting blown. He has a lot to work on defensively, specially if Pop will play Kyle as a stretch 4. At this point our better perimeter defenders after Kawhi are Danny and Kyle. The team needs someone else.
Garino may be able to help, but I really haven't watched him, so I can't say. The other issue is Simmons contract. Unless he makes a development leap through the season, I can't see the Spurs paying a ton for him to remain past this season. He's still around the same level of talent that the team can find among the undrafted and there is also Murray in the team for a slashing guard. Where Simmons needs to improve significantly is defending. If he can't improve in that area I don't see him in the team past this season. Garino can be a nice prospect in case that happens.
You'll be buying his jersey soon.
He was the starting sf for the big Argentina team in the last major tournament IIRC. He figures to have a big role in the olympics, so Spurs probably also buying low now in case he has a good tournament.
He seems like a great kid.
nvm

He's a very solid 1 on 1 defender, as it has already been said. His stroke is good, but slow release, probably something that can be fixed by Chip. His driving game isn't anything to write home about. He does play hard all the time. He's still raw for the NBA level, but can be basically another Danny Green in a lot ways. Don't be looking for special talent like Gino, but more of a commodity type of player.

6 years ago, Patrick Garino, took this photo with manu
He said: "he was a dream, to be near him"
Today I can confirm that they will play in spurs garino
The dream of the kid? ;-)

The goods. I was tired of the drab analysis by terrible posters.![]()
He tall as six years ago.![]()
kinda reminds me of Simmons with his penchant for driving into defenses with good body control to make the layup. Simmons could be great defender if he had better BB sense, but this guy has defensive rep so thats a plus.
Man I wish I could be there for camp pre-season. gonna be some great pressure on these young guys. Should be fun.
FWIW, he played for Orlando in the summer league:
http://www.nba.com/summerleague/2016...tricio_garino/
http://www.expressnews.com/sports/sp...witter-premiumUndrafted rookie forward Patricio Garino received a rude awakening while playing for the Orlando Magic’s summer-league team.“It’s completely different than the college game,” he told FoxSports.com. “The aggressiveness, the level of compe ion, is much higher. It’s more intense. They are locked in. Everyone is trying to earn a spot on the team. The intensity is very different.”
But after finding his footing, it was clear the George Washington University-ex was up to the challenge. On the heels of averaging 12.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.0 steals in 30.7 minutes over three games, Garino, 23, signed Friday with the Spurs, who are taking a chance on the 6-foot-6, 210-pound Argentine in the hopes he could help stretch the floor as a long-range shooter.
