He wont be a FA for two years right?
    or am I confused here.
If he has a player option for 18-19 it sounds like the first two years he is in OKC. Perhaps he has a player option in 17-18 too..??
He was always under contract for this season. So without the option, he just tacked on another season at the cost of $40 Million. So next season, OKC will once again have an expiring Westbrook, this time with the burden of a player option..

I see...but that's still a good situation for OKC. They couldn't afford to lose him and come up empty handed. I realize Russ didn't do this out of the goodness of his heart but I still applaud him. He chose to see what OKC could do while also getting paid. Look at Portland, lost LMA but is still in the playoffs. They could have sold him on Oladipo having more upside than CJ and them having better bigs than Portland and Russ has to have his ego thinking he's better than Lillard. Just an example of another franchise that lost a star and rebuilt quickly. They probably still feel they are a playoff team, not a championship hopeful like OKC was but they must have a plan surely.

I like the outcome personally. I thought Russ for Spurs was a longer shot than Durant.

people thinking it's a loyalty move. It's purely financial. Russ just has a good and smart agent.

Makes 8m more this season, 28.5m next season and has a PO to become a FA when he is a 10-year vet.

He was going to get a lot more money regardless. So did CJ, Lillard, LeBron, Durant-signing the one contract. I don't expect these guys to get less when mediocre role players are getting overpaid. If anything, stars are the only ones that are truly deserving of the exorbitant contracts. He just wasn't expected to sign an extension at all to begin with.

And the Spurs only have one player OKC covets and they can't have him so it's not worth discussing. San Antonio as a landing spot is out of the question.

Isnt he eligibile for the 35%/10 yrs experience bump soon? Or is that 2018? In any event, in addition to timing free agency to maximize that, isnt OKC the only team that can offer the max raises too?

He'll play out his career in OKC.

Not 100% sure but I think I might have seen Bertans at my work tonight.

We have a manger that's like 6'8 named Chris and when this other dude walked in it created a stir.

I was rolling at the six spot when someone murmured "I think he has a couple inches on Chris..." I looked up at the door and I immediately thought Basketball player and ... man that chick with him is kind of fine.

I Sort of called out "Bertans!" and he looked right at me. But this his hair wasn't orange, seemed brown to me, maybe he dyed it darker or the light, or it wasn't him heh.

BUT Super tall, moved athletically, sexy woman, looked foreign, made eye contact when I called out hmmm...

LOL maybe he was asking his teammates if they knew any sushi spots and Tony Parker put in a good word for us.

Tony Parker may have put in more than just a good word.

Only OKC can give him max raises, but they aren't the only one who can give him the 35 percent unless the CBA changes.

They actually look like they are staring at the person taking the picture. Like wtf, creeper, why you taking pics of us. Probably automatically assume nothing else is picture worthy.

    1) Pop looking healthy. Looks slimmer

    2) How do you know he got a hot dog? Look at how big the menu is. My bet is Falafle.
